Jennifer Lee Davis (born April 6, 1983) attended
Hampshire High School in Romney, West Virginia from 1998-2001.
In cross country, Davis was a 3-year letterman, WV Cross
Country Champion as a Sophomore, WV Cross Country 3rd Place as a Junior, WV
Cross Country 2nd Place as a Senior (behind her twin Susan).
In basketball, she was a 3-year letterman, All-Area 1st
Team as a Junior & Senior, Special Mention All-State, and Honorable Mention
WV All-State as a Junior & Senior.
In 2000-01, Davis was member of the Hampshire High School
Girls Basketball Team which was State Semi-Finalists, PVC Champions, Cumberland
Area Winners, and Sectional & Regional Champions.
In track, she was a 3-year letterman, WV State 3200M
Track Champion as a Senior (2nd in the 800M & 1600M), set Hampshire High
School Record in 400M & 800M, 2000-2001 Cumberland Times News Co-Area
Athlete of the Year (with twin Susan).
In 2001, Jennifer Davis was elected the senior class
president.
While attending Hampshire High School, Davis was coached
by Paul Clovis.
Jennifer Davis was offered a scholarship at West Virginia
University, where she studied English/elementary education and competed on the
women’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams. In track, she earned
All-American honors at WVU twice. In 2005, she won the ECAC 3000M run.

During the fall cross country season, Jennifer Davis was
runner-up to her sister Susan at the Potomac Valley Conference Championship
with a time of 19:44, earning All-Conference honors. She was Hampshire’s second
place finisher at the Class AAA Region V Championship in 19:52. At the West
Virginia AAA Girl’s State Championship at Williamstown, Jennifer defeated East
Fairmont’s Holly Hunter for the individual state title while crossing the tape
in 18:39, earning All-State honors. Jennifer’s sister Susan, did not compete at
the state meet due to an injury sustained at the regional meet.
During the spring track season, Davis was runner-up in
the 1600m (5:30) and 3200m (11:40.40) at Class AAA Region II Championships,
while she placed 4th in the 800m (2:24.70). At the AAA Girls West Virginia
State Meet, she finished 4th in the 1600m (5:24.37) and placed 6th in the 3200m
(11:42.24), while earning All-State in both events.

During the fall cross country season, Davis again was
runner-up at the Potomac Valley Conference Championship with a time of 21:10,
earning All-Conference honors. For the second year in a row she was runner-up
at the Class AAA Region V Championship with a time of 20:15. Jennifer then earned
third place and named all-state cross country with a time of 19:08 at the West
Virginia State XC Meet at Williamstown.
During the spring track season, Davis was a double winner
in the 400m (58.19) and 800m (2:21.8) at the Division I Potomac Valley
Conference. She was also runner-up in the 3200m with a time of 11:30.9. The
Davis twins helped lead the Trojans to a regional Title; winning everything
from the 400m to 3200m. Jennifer won the 400m (59.06), 800m (2:23.37) and was
runner-up in the 3200m (11:37.68). At the AAA Girls West Virginia State Meet,
Davis appeared to be in about 6th place as the athletes rounded the curve to begin
the final 100-meters, but her strong finish carried her to an easy second with
a time of 59 seconds flat. Davis would place 4th in both the 800m (2:22.51) and
3200m (11:23.50). She earned All-State in all three events, helping The Trojans finish with 46 points for a 3rd place
finish in the team standings.
[Senior]
During the fall cross country season, Davis would
three-peat as runner-up at the Potomac Valley Conference Championship with a
time of 19:42. For the third year in a row she was runner-up at the Class AAA
Region V Championship with a time of 19:36. Susan Davis won the state cross
country meet at Elkins and her twin Jennifer, the 1998 champ finished
runner-up. Both girls beat the previous course record, while earning All-State
honors. On a very difficult and hilly course, Jennifer crossed the finish line
in 20:21, which was a minute, 16 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher.
During the spring, Davis was again a double winner in the
400m (59.9) and 800m (2:24) at the Division I Potomac Valley Conference.
Jennifer Davis led Hampshire to a runner-up team finish, pulling a triple
victory in the 400m (59.71), 1600m (5:25) and 3200m (11:33.77). She was also
runner-up in the 800m with a time of 2:22.91. Jennifer took home high point
honors with 38 points. At the AAA Girls West Virginia State Meet, Davis won the
3200m over Roane's Stephanie Eastman by less than 0.4 seconds with a clocking
of 11:20.54. Davis would finish 0.38
seconds behind Martinsburg's Rachel Carden for a second-place finish in the 1600m (5:17.59). Roane's Stephanie
Eastman would return the favor in the 800m by smashing the record by 1.41
seconds. Eastman was clocked at 2:15.94, while Hampshire's Jennifer Davis
finished a strong weekend with a 2nd place finish in a time of 2:18.86. Again,
Davis would earn All-State honors in three events, helping the Trojans finish
with 42 points for a 4th place finish in the team standings.
Davis would end her senior track season with the 4th best
performance for class AAA girls in the 400m (58.64), 2nd best 800m (2:18.86),
3rd best 1600m (5:17.59) and first best 3200m (11:20.54).
During her high school running career she was an
eleven-time All-State selection in cross country and track.
Davis was inducted into the Hampshire County Hall of Fame
in 2011.

2001-06]:
Davis ran track and cross country at WVU from 2001-05 and
qualified for NCAA competition five times in cross country, the distance medley
relay and 5,000-meters. She captained and helped guide the WVU cross country
team to mid-Atlantic regional championship in 2004 under then-assistant coach
Cleary.
In track, Davis was the first West Virginia native to run
1,600-meters in less than five minutes. She also earned All-America honors
twice as the anchor of the distance medley relay team. She has the second
fastest time in the steeplechase (10:28.45) at WVU and was a member of the
school record-holding 4x800 relay team (8:48.07) in 2003. In 2005, she captured
the ECAC 3,000-meter title with a time of 9:33.61. A BIG EAST Academic All-Star,
Davis was twice named an Academic All-American.
Davis received her bachelor’s degree in English from WVU
in 2005 and finished her master’s in elementary education in the fall of 2006.
Davis was an assistant coach at her alma mater from 2007-2011.
She played a huge part in training. Prior to her full-time promotion in 2007
was a volunteer assistant to Sean Cleary since 2005.
From 2003-07, Davis worked as an assistant coach with the
West Virginia Flyers club, where she administered workouts, assisted with meet
management and served as the web manager for the running club. During that
span, the club produced 45 West Virginia high school state champions in the
middle and long-distance events (800-3200-meter). She also oversaw 14 members
who received Division 1 scholarships.
