Huntington's Carter Geveke has been named the 2026 West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year. Geveke capped a strong senior campaign with an All-Time Best Run in the 300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles at the State Meet. His 37.48 clocking eclipsed a mark that had stood for over 35 years. He added a 2nd place showing in the 110 Meter High Hurdles, ran the opening leg on the State Champion Shuttle Hurdle Relay team, and concluded the meet by running the opening leg on a 4x400 unit that placed a surprise 2nd to secure a tie for the Team Championship. Following the season, he competed at New Balance Nationals, where he finished 29th in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 56.47.
