Morgantown's Irene Riggs took the title in the 3200 Meter Run at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational in California on April 8th. Her clocking of 9:52.66 was nearly 3 seconds ahead of an incredible field that so 9 girls go under 10:00. She also set a meet record in the process.

Riggs was out aggressively, taking the lead before the end of the 1st lap and continually extending it as she sped through the first 1600 in 4:48.68. Through five laps, she led by just over 10 seconds before the field started to reel her in a bit, but they never got close enough to truly threaten for the win.
