LKC TRACK & FIELD GUIDELINES

Track coaches from the LKC met Sunday, June 5th 2011 at Ritchie County High School to come to a consensus on guidelines when hosting the conference meet. There were 15 people who attended, representing schools from Braxton, Doddridge, Ritchie, Roane, South Harrison, St. Marys, Tyler Consolidated, and Williamstown.
At the coaches meeting at Ritchie County in 2018 it was agreed upon that the date of the LKC meet should take place on the Friday prior to the week in which Regionals will take place.
There was one recommendation made concerning the method of choosing the host site in future years. Based on previous years a rotation was developed which would give each school with the proper facilities an equal opportunity to host the meet. It would include:

The following guidelines were developed to assist the host school to maintain a consistency of the meet.
1. An automated timing system will be required.
2. The recommended order of events for a 2 session meet listed in the interscholastic will be followed, including the order of the field events.
3. Officials should include, but not limited to, a Referee, Starter and assistant Starter.
4. Participation will be limited to 3 athletes per event and one relay per school.
5. Hosts are encouraged to utilize officials from member schools if they feel they lack the expertise in the running of some of the events.
6. Meet information is to be mailed and/or placed online 2 weeks prior to the entree deadline.
7. Entries are due utilizing hy-tek to the host school by Wednesday of the week of competition.
8. The meets performance report should be sent to all member schools by the end of day on Thursday.

10. All scratches are due by the start of the coaches meeting. Coaches are encouraged to have scratches in by noon of the day of the meet. Scratches for the field events may be completed at the event
11. Pole Vault / High Jump: 5 jumping / 5 alive.
12. Starting Heights are to be announced during the coaches meeting
13. Flights for the Shot/Discus/Long Jump should be restricted to no more than 9 participants with the best participating in the last flight. 8 should advance to the finals and receive 3 more attempts
14. Minimum distances should be established in the Shot/Discus with each athlete receiving at least one measurable mark.
15. It is the responsibility of the host school to update the records in the hy-tek file and forward to the next school hosting the meet.
AWARDS to Be Provided on Night of Meet
Maxwell Medals & Awards currently have a medallion cast which has an outline of the state with the appropriate conference information on the medallion. They have all the information to easily place an order based on previous years. They can provide the runner-up plaques as well as high point.
