Morgantown's Irene Riggs has been named the 2023 West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year. Riggs capped her stellar Senior season with State leading times in the 800, 1600, 3200, including a 9:52.66 victory at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational, and helped her team to an All-Time State Best in the 4x800 at the Penn Relays. Her 3 individual wins at the State Meet helped Morgantown tie for the team title. In addition, she clocked a 9:45.97 in the 3200 during the indoor season at the SPIRE Scholastic Showcase.
