Coaches,

My name is Joe Rector and I am the Asst. Track Coach at Walton Middle School.  We would like to invite you to the “Fight Back with Track” event on Saturday, May 1st.  Our student athletes would like to help give back to a cause.  On May 2nd of 2015 I finished coaching a CWVAC Conference Track meet and went to the hospital for an elbow injury.  Quickly it was made apparent I was in a lot worse condition since I was diagnosed with Leukemia and began my fight against Cancer.  Our student/athletes chose this date and event to help raise more awareness and funds for Cancer Research.

Due to COVID-19 we will be limiting the number of teams based on the number of athletes per team to stay with in the guidelines given by the WVSSAC.  If you intend on participating please get in touch with me ASAP and give me an estimate on the number of athletes you will have on your teams.

Field events will begin at 10 A.M. with running events following at 10:30 A.M.  This event will be held at Roane County High School and will utilize their 8 lane track and Electronic Timing System.  We will be following the WVSSAC modifications for COVID-19.  More info will be sent out after you have confirmed you will be attending.

If you are entering as a single them the fee is $60.00 or if you are entering a combined girls and boys team the fee is $100.00.  Checks can be made payable to Walton Athletic Boosters or WAB.  If you need an invoice sent to your school please contact me.

Athletes will still follow the WVSSAC criteria of only participating in 4 total events with a maximum of 3 running events.  You may enter 4 athletes per event with all three having the chance to score.  You may enter 2 relay teams with only 1 having the chance to score.

Awards presented the day of the meet will be:  Ribbons for all events 1st—6th place; Team awards 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place girls and boys; High point award for both girls and boys.

If you have any questions please feel free to call me at (304) 542-6113 (cell) or (304) 577-6731 (work).  I can also be reached at jmrector@k12.wv.us or rector_jm@yahoo.com.   An event file will follow soon.

Look forward to seeing you there,

Joe Rector
