Morgantown's Irene Riggs was named the 2021 Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year for West Virginia. This follows her dominant season that was capped with wins in the Class AAA 800, 1600, and 3200 Meter Runs. Her 1600 Meter Run time ranked as the 8th Best All-Time State Meet Performance. Her top 3200 Meter Run time of 10:24.60 was almost 40 seconds faster than anyone else on the season.
