University's Josh Edwards was named the 2021 Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year for West Virginia. This follows his dominant season that was capped with wins in the Class AAA 1600 and 3200 Meter Runs. He also anchored the winning 4x800 Meter Relay. He set a State Meet Record in the 3200 Meter Run. Also, during the season he set a new State All-Time Best in the 3200 with an 8:49.04. He followed that up in the post-season with another new All-Time Best at the Brooks PR Invitational by clocking an 8:46.73 in the 2 Mile, which converts to an 8:43.67. He also had the top time in the State in the 800 Meter Run during the season.
