Aaron Withrow Named Ray McCoy Award Winner

Winfield's Aaron Withrow, who has since moved on to the University of Kentucky, has been named the Ray McCoy Award winner as the male track athlete of the year for 2019.

In the 2019 State Track Meet, Withrow was victorious in the 800, 1600, and 3200 Meter Runs and was a member of the winning 4x400 Meter Relay team, earning the High Point Award for the Meet.

In the 800, he was challenged mightily and took the win by just 0.05 with his 1:56.88, which was the top Class AA Time of the decade. In the 1600, he just missed the Class AA State Meet Record by 0.01 seconds with his 4:17.55, which was the 2nd Best Class AA State Meet Performance of All-Time (he also holds the 8th and 10th best on the Class AA list). In the 3200, he won comfortably in 9:15.60, which was the 3rd Best All-Time Class AA State Meet Performance for that event, and the best of the decade by over 15 seconds.

Withrow was followed in the voting by Cabell Midland's Gavin Beverage, Weir's Sebastian Spencer, Hampshire's John Hicks, and Woodrow Wilson's Chris Barbera.
