Starcher Named Gatorade Player of the Year

Ripley's Tori Starcher has been named the West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year for Track & Field. So, how do you determine a Player of the Year in a year in which there was no season? You look at career achievement. Tori Starcher competed in the State Track Meet in 12 events over her three years. The result...12 Gold Medals. She never lost a race at the State Track Meet, winning the 800, 1600, and 3200 three times, and anchoring the winning 4x400 Meter Relay three times. Along the way, she set State Meet Records in the 800 and 1600 and was part of the record setting 4x400. She also owns State All-Time Bests in the 800 and 1600 (and mile). Her 4:38.19 mile run at the Penn Relays set a meet record for that prestigious meet and is the 9th Best High School Girls Mile in history.
