Weir's Sebastian Spencer has been named the West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year for Track & Field. As with the girl's award, since there was no 2020 season, it is assumed that career achievement was the driving criteria. Spencer ends his career with 7 State Championships, 3 Individual. It certainly would have been a shock if he didn't add to that total this season. He holds the Class AA State Meet Record in the 100 Meter Dash and is tied for the top mark in the 200 Meter Dash (hitting that time in both his Sophomore and Junior seasons). He also holds the best All Time FAT mark in the 100 Meter Dash. Add in the defining performance of the 2019 State Meet with his anchor leg of the 4x100 Meter Relay, and it adds up to quite a career.
