Eastman, Woodard win Regional titles, 5 qualify For USATF JR Olympic Nationals

            Tri-State Athletic Club athletes Faith Eastman (Huntington, WV/Hite-Saunders Elementary) and Benjamin Woodard (Kenova, WV/Homeschool) each won a Regional championship, leading 5 athletes total in qualifying for the USA Track & Field Hershey National Jr Olympic Track & Field Championships based on their Top-5 finishes at the USATF Region 5 Jr Olympic Championships that were held July 5-7 at Cardinal Park Soccer and Track Stadium on the campus of the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY. Featuring athletes from West Virginia, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio, it serves as the qualifying meet for the USATF Hershey National Jr Olympic Track & Field Championships. Additional athletes who qualified are Kieleigh Railey (Huntington, WV/Buffalo Middle School), Trinity Webb (Huntington, WV/Huntington East Middle School), and Caylor Eastman (Huntington, WV).

                Faith Eastman won the Sub-Bantam (8 & under) Girls 400m, and also qualified by placing 3rd in the Long Jump and 4th in the 200m while setting new personal bests in all 3 events.

                Benjamin Woodard won the Intermediate (15-16) Boys 2000m Steeplechase in his first time ever competing in the event, and additionally qualified in 2 other events by placing 4th in both the 1500m and Javelin.

                Kieleigh Railey qualified by finishing as the Runner-up in the Midget (11-12) Girls Aero-Javelin while setting a new personal best by 5 feet in the process. This is her 2nd straight year qualifying for the National Championships after competing there in the Turbo-Javelin in the Midget (9-10) Girls age division a year ago.

                Trinity Webb qualified by finishing 5th in the Midget Girls Aero-Javelin and Caylor Eastman qualified off a 5th place finish in the Bantam Boys 200m, with both setting new personal bests in the process

Our next meet will be the Queen City Invite on Saturday, July 13 at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, OH

The USATF Hershey National Jr Olympic Track and Field Championships are being held July 22-28 at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State University in Sacramento, CA.
