Starcher, McCoy Named McCoy Award Winners

Tori Starcher has been named the Female 2018 Ray McCoy Award winner. The McCoy Award goes to the top Track & Field Athlete in the State. Starcher's 2018 Track season saw her win the 800, 1600, 3200, and anchored the winning 4x400 Meter Relay team in helping her team to the State Championship. Starcher's 2:08.90 in the 800 was the 2nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance, one she later topped in a post-season meet with a 2:07.42, which is an All-Time WV mark. Her 1600 Meter Run of 4:49.14 was a State Meet All-Time Best. Her 10:29.87 in the 3200 matched her 800 Meter Run as a 2nd Best State Meet Performance.

Freddy Canary gas been named the Male 2018 Ray McCoy Award winner. Also the winner in 2017, Canary capped in injury riddled 2018 campaign with State Meet victories in the 100, 200, and 400 Meter Dashes and a runner-up spot in the Long Jump. His 100 (10.85 Trials), 200 (22.00), and 400 (49.01) meter times all ranked in the top 10 All-Time for Class A-AA State Meet Performances (6th, 7th, and 8th, respectively). The 38 points concluded a dominant final two years in Canary's high school career.
