Cabell Midland's Gavin Beverage has been named the West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year for Track & Field. Beverage won the Shot Put and was runner-up in the discus at the State Meet, shattering the State Meet Shot Put record in the process. His 18 points helped Cabell Midland to a 3rd place finish.

At the State Meet, he technically set the State Meet record 5 times with each non-foul throw going further than the last with the top throw being 65'10.50, which is 7th Nationally.
