Officials Clinic – WVU Coliseum – Room 251 – February 4, 2018 – 1:00 PM -4:00PM
The West Virginia University Women’s Track program
in conjunction with USATF-West Virginia and WVSSAC will host an official’s
clinic February 4th in Room 251 at the WVU Coliseum. The clinic is scheduled from 1:00 PM – 4:00
PM. The clinic will be presented by
Richard Messenger, Officials Certification Chair, of USATF-West Virginia who is
also the WVSSAC Track & Field Rules Interpreter. He will be able to certify anyone who wants
to become a high school or college track official. There is no cost for the clinic but anyone
wanting to become a certified official needs to bring a check for registration.
The cost to become a high school official is $40. Those checks are payable to: WVSSAC. WVSSAC Track Official Packets, which include
the National Federation rulebooks, will be available at the clinic.
To be certified as a college or open official, you will
need to become a member of USATF which costs $30 for 1year, $55 for 2 years,
$80 for 3 years or $100 for 4 years. You
will also pay a $30 fee to USATF-WV for the official’s certification which is
good for the Olympiad. All USATF
officials are required by United States Olympic Committee to complete SafeSport
Training as well as a background check.
That information will be provided via a handout at the clinic.
