Dear Coaches: Men/Women

 

This is your invitation to participate in the 2017 Charleston Gazette-Mail  Relays, APRIL 28TH and APRIL 29TH at Laidley Field, Charleston, WV, also the location of the West Virginia State Track Meet. There is an entry fee of $30.00 per school to help defray operating expenses and awards.  THE ENTRY FEE IS DUE NO LATER THAN APRIL 14th.  Checks are to be made out to  LAIDLEY FIELD with Gazette Relays on the memo line.

A time schedule, as well as the informational letter for coaches, can be found at runwv.com.  All entries will need to be done electronically.  There will be no hard copy entry sheets.  Entries are to be sent by Hy-Tek Team Manager Lite to Marshall Cavender, our meet technician.  We will follow the West Virginia State Meet schedule of events as closely as possible with some exceptions. Please note NF and WVSSAC rule changes. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay for girls will be 102.5 meter: (S) & (F) 13.0 meters: (B) hurdles 8.5 meters. height 30". Be sure your pole vaulters use the proper pole and you complete the vaulter's form. This will be enforced. WVSSAC and NF rules will apply. There will be a Jury of Appeals. We suggest you make copies of your forms upon completing them and bring them with you.

Medals will be given to the top three finishers and ribbons for fourth through sixth in each event and plaques to the top three teams in each division, both boys and girls, as well as the high point winners in each division. The divisions are AAA, AA & A. Please be sure and indicate your division. *Note: Out-of-state teams please indicate total number of boys and girls enrolled in grades 9-12. (Class AAA 933 and above, Class AA 460-932, Class A 459 and below) It would be most helpful to us if you would send Marshall Cavender your eligibility sheets as soon as possible. We will enter them into the computer and assign them a number. Entries must be limited to three (3) contestants per event. No additions or changes will be allowed.  Scratches only.

 

We will have (2) two non-scoring fun events. The 4 x 100m King (200 lbs. and over) and Queen Relays. Medals will be given for the top three finishers.

Coaches with scratches or any questions/issues need to see the meet director, Jim Crawford,  by 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 28th  under the South Stands next to the Field Manager's office. Please have your scratch sheets completed in order that we may get them quickly to the computer for seeding purposes. You may e-mail your scratches before 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28th . E-mail them to

Please advise your contestants they are not allowed to wear spikes on the football

field or in the stands. This could lead to disqualification from the meet. When they are not competing, all competitors must remain in the North Stands. (Interstate side) Only contestants in uniform, officials and managers are allowed on the track or field. Managers must have some identification signed by the head coach to be allowed onto Laidley Field or they will be required to pay. We understand this has been a problem in the past. Time limits will be observed in the field events.

 

Again, some Laidley Field rules: all contestants are to be in the North Stands, No spikes on the football field or in the stands. Tents are to be put up beyond the blue railings and east of the 40-yard line. No alcohol, tobacco, glass containers, and gum are allowed on Laidley Field premises. Parking will be on the outer two adjacent lots to Laidley Field; only teams with school buses or team vans will be allowed inside Laidley Field. As stated previously WVSSAC, NF and Laidley Field rules will apply. This is a sanctioned meet.

 

ATTENTION COACHES:  Final deadlines for electronic entries will be Tuesday, April 25th, 2017. Entries must be sent to Marshall Cavender by the deadline. In addition, we will have dinner for coaches and officials on Friday evening and lunch for coaches and officials on Saturday.  Wishing everyone a successful and fun track season, we hope to see you April 28th .
