Re:   Region I A Regional Track Meet

 

The Region I A Track Meet will be held at St. Marys High School on Thursday, May 12. The meet will begin with the coaches meeting at 3:30 p.m. Scratches must be submitted to the timing trailer prior to this time.

 

Field Events will begin at 4:00 p.m. First Session: Girls Shot Put, Boys Discus, Girls High Jump, Boys Long Jump, Boys Pole Vault.

 

Running Events will begin at 4:45 p.m. with the order of events for a two-session meet as listed in the February issue of the Interscholastic.

 

Please email your entry file to pat@tristateracer.com by 8:00 am on Wednesday, May 11 using Hy-Tek Team Manager program. Please put “REGION 1 A ENTRIES” in the subject line before emailing.

 

If you don’t have the file, you may download Team Manager Lite from www.hy-tekltd.com/track. Click on Team Manager; scroll down the page until you find Team Manager Lite; Find “Click Here to Download for Free.”

Once downloaded you will find the event file on www.runwv.com for Region IA, you will copy and import the event file into Team Manager and enter your athletes into events.  Please use WVSSAC identifiers for your team. For Example: school name – St. Marys HS – team abbr: 0115 – short team name St. Marys. Also please use the names of your athletes as they appear on your roster. All entries are due by no later than 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 11. Please put “REGION 1 A ENTRIES” in the subject line. Last minute scratches can be made by 3:15 at the meet. Please keep these to a minimum.

 

POINTS TO REMEMBER:

  1. Remember your weight verification form.
  2. Please put 6 names on relay cards to get participant numbers for athletes at State.
  3. OPENING HTS  G PV  7;  HJ  4’4” ; B  PV 9;  HJ  5’6”;
  4. QUALIFYING HTS G PV  8’0”   HJ  4’10”       B  PV  11’   HJ  5’ 10”
  5. Athletes will be excused at the third call to participate in another event. Athletes must notify event official who MAY move them up in the order. After their heat in the other event they have 5 minutes to return. If all remaining athletes have cleared or passed, the bar will be raised if the returning athlete is not back within 15 minutes.

8.      Coaches will not be allowed in the track venue area EXCEPT for HJ, LJ, OR PV.  ONLY ATHLETES WARMING UP WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE IN FIELD, NO SPIKES ON FOOTBALL FIELD

9.      ALL UNIFORM RULES ARE IN EFFECT

10.  Implements will be weighted before throwing. 

11.  Heat winners and the next four fastest times will advance to finals, if only two heats then top two and next four.

12.  Remember the top three places in the running events, shot, discus and long jump; and the next four best performances from the regionals will advance to the state meet.  In the vertical jumps the top four places will advance, plus athletes that meet the qualifying standard. If there is a tie involving fourth place and the qualifying standard has not been met the tie breaking procedure for first will be used.

 

Also, if you add an athlete to your eligibility with the WVSSAC then the ROSTER also needs to be updated. Please check with your Athletic Director to make sure your current roster is up to date on the WVSSAC website.

 

If a question arises during the scratch meeting regarding an entry time for an athlete or a relay, please have appropriate documentation to prove your entry time. If you do not have documentation, the meet director has the option to change the time based on the evidence presented to him on meet day.

 

Parking for buses will be available in the back of the parking lot close to the Stadium. Handicapped parking will have spaces marked and will also be in the back parking lot.

 

Team tents can be set up on the Visitors side bleachers OR under the Home bleachers. No team tents will be allowed in Home bleachers.

 

The gate will open at 3:00 p.m. for spectators. Admission – Adults - $6, Students - $5 as established by WVSSAC. Only WVSSAC passes may be utilized and those individuals must sign in and may be asked for identification.

 

There will be a concession stand available throughout the meet. It will open at 3:30 p.m. A Hospitality room will be available during Break for coaches and meet workers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tennis balls will be provided for markings in the relay races. Tape cannot be used for markings in the relays. 

 

No gum or sticky drinks will be allowed inside the track venue and no spikes will be allowed on the football field. This will be strictly enforced. Any athlete jumping over any fence will be disqualified from the meet!
