100 M 1. Jasmyn Hosby Martinsburg
2. Mykera Days Martinsburg
3. Tara Sharpe Musselman
4. Shalynn Dickens Martinsburg
5. Natasha Trott Morgantown
6. Devyn Hosby Washington
Jasmyn Hosby is the defending champion and the favorite. Region II runs mostly hand-timed
meets which always leaves their times a bit suspect. There's no doubt, however, that they
are very fast. 10 in the field have gone under 13 seconds with having FAT sub-13's.
200 M 1. Jasmyn Hosby Martinsburg
2. Mykera Days Martinsburg
3. Tara Sharpe Musselman
4. Devyn Hosby Washington
5. Shalynn Dickens Martinsburg
6. Ali Crawford Brooke
Jasmyn Hosby is the defending champion in the 200 also. She only finished 3rd in her Region, though.
This is much like the 100. Region II is very fast but predominantly hand-timed. 10 have been under
27 seconds, and that doesn't include Alexandria Allen who finished 4th last year while running under
26.
400 M 1. Jasmyn Hosby Martinsburg
2. Alyssa Scherich Fairmont Senior
3. Letitia Propst Elkins
4. Tori Boggs Parkersburg
5. Ashley Haught John Marshall
6. LaShanda McDowell Woodrow Wilson
Hosby is relatively inexperienced at the event, but she clearly has better speed than Scherich or
Propst. She's the one most likely to drop down in the 57's. I think Scherich has slightly better
speed than Propst, though it could certainly go either way. Anyone outside these three winning would
be quite an upset. Those three have been under 60 seconds. 7 have been under 61.
800 M 1. Letitia Propst Elkins
2. Alyssa Scherich Fairmont Senior
3. Tori Dent Hurricane
4. Nikki Ashbaugh Washington
5. Anna Lizon Hedgesville
6. Sarah Hamilton George Washington
Three have been under 2:22. 6 have been under 2:25. 9 have been under 2:26. That means that there
are a lot of spots up for grabs. It should be fun.
1600 M 1. Letitia Propst Elkins
2. Amelia Paladino University
3. Morgan Kesecker Nicholas
4. Kaitlyn Workman Preston
5. Lauren Tarovisky Wheeling Park
6. Brynn Harshbarger Morgantown
Propst is the only one to have gone under 5:15. Paladino is the only other one to have gone under
5:20. 6 have been under 5:25. 10 have been under 5:30.
3200 M 1. Letitia Propst Elkins
2. Amelia Paladino University
3. Kaitlyn Workman Preston
4. Morgan Kesecker Nicholas
5. Brynn Harshbarger Morgantown
6. Rachel Lipps Hampshire
Propst and Paladino have been under 11:20 and had a great race at the Gazette Relays. No one else is
under 11:30, but there are 5 more between 11:30 and 11:40, and three others under 11:52.
100 HH 1. Emily Godwin Buckhannon-Upshur
2. Alyssa Scherich Fairmont Senior
3. Valerie Kirk Winfield
4. Taylor Fordyce Parkersburg
5. Ali Crawford Brooke
6. Tanija Spencer Capital
Three have been under 15.20. Godwin's # 5 time is better than anyone else's 2nd best. Scherich has
been consistently fast, but Kirk and Fordyce were faster at their Regional. Five have been under
15.35.
300 LH 1. Emily Godwin Buckhannon-Upshur
2. Valerie Kirk Winfield
3. Chloe Barber Hurricane
4. Nicole Fluharty Parkersburg South
5. Abby Lantz Buckhannon-Upshur
6. Tanija Spencer Capital
Godwin is the only one to have gone under 46. Kirk is the only other one to have gone under 47.
6 have gone under 48. 9 have gone under 49.
4x100 M 1. Martinsburg
2. Morgantown
3. Jefferson
4. Winfield
5. Brooke
6. Hampshire
Martinsburg would have been the favorite even without the ability to add Mykera Days into the lineup.
Their top time is nearly 2 seconds ahead of anyone else, though that was a hand-time. Their best
FAT time is still almost 0.8 seconds ahead of anyone else, and that was without Days. Martinsburg
is the only team to have been under 50 seconds. 6 have been under 52.
4x200 M 1. Martinsburg
2. Jefferson
3. University
4. Morgantown
5. Winfield
6. Hampshire
Martinsburg is again the favorite. They could potentially move Jasmyn Hosby to this event while
putting Mykera Days in the 4x100 in her spot. They would likely still be favored in the 4x100
and would shore up their favorite position in this event. They come in as the favorite regardless.
Martinsburg has been under 1:47. Jefferson and University have been under 1:48. Morgantown
has been under 1:49. 3 others have been under 1:50.
4x400 M 1. John Marshall
2. Washington
3. Jefferson
4. Winfield
5. Hurricane
6. Greenbrier East
Washington has run faster than John Marshall, but this is 3/4 of the crew that won the event last
year, and I think they'll do it again. Washington is the only team to have been under 4:10 so far.
I have the first two with a slight gap on Jefferson, and then Jefferson with a slight gap on the next
group, in which I have 6 teams within 3 seconds. Special mention to Hampshire here as I think they
have the potential to go as high as fourth, but will have to try it from the first heat.
4x800 M 1. Hampshire
2. Wheeling Park
3. Morgantown
4. Preston
5. Parkersburg
6. University
This one should be a lot of fun. There's no real standout team, and I have 10 teams within 11 seconds
of each other. Parkersburg gets into the mix only if they add Tori Boggs to the lineup. If they do,
then they join the brigade going under 10:00.
Shuttle 1. Cabell Midland
2. Jefferson
3. Buckhannon-Upshur
4. Wheeling Park
5. Winfield
6. Parkersburg
The top 3 have been under 1:07. It's a really tough call between them. Cabell Midland is the only
one to have gone under 1:07 twice. Jefferson and Buckhannon-Upshur have been faster. Cabell Midland
ran their time relatively uncontested. Jefferson and Buckhannon-Upshur were dueling each other.
I think Cabell Midland just might have a little more in the tank. We'll see. 8 have been under 1:09.
H Jump 1. Emily Godwin Buckhannon-Upshur
2. Talequia Hamilton Huntington
3. Lauren Cvechko Buckhannon-Upshur
4. Ashleigh Taylor Nicholas
5. Jordan Tate Nitro
6. Laurel Kemmerling Nicholas
Godwin cleared an all-time State Best 5'10 earlier in the season and has at least 5 jumps over 5'6
while no one else cleared it once. Cvechko has a full series of 5'2 or higher. 6 have cleared 5'2
at least once. 10 have cleared 5'0.
P Vault 1. Kiley Defibaugh John Marshall
2. Rachel Hewitt Morgantown
3. Emma Dolan Wheeling Park
4. Kaitlyn Clark Jefferson
5. Savana Whiting Ripley
6. Jessica Hamrick Parkersburg South
Defibaugh has the only 11'0 vault in the group. Clark has the 2nd highest vault with a 10'9, but she
was missing (injured?) from April 9th to May 7th. Since her return, she's been no higher than 9'0.
Hewitt and Dolan are the only others with multiple 10'0 vaults. 6 have cleared 10'0.
L Jump 1. Emily Godwin Buckhannon-Upshur
2. Talequia Hamilton Huntington
3. Alexandria Allen Capital
4. Breayun Days Martinsburg
5. Alicia Bonar Wheeling Park
6. Michelle Oye Woodrow Wilson
Godwin has the furthest jump in the group and five jumps over 17'0. Hamilton is the only other one
with a pari of 17'0 jumps. Allen won the event last year. Days has a 17'0 jump on the books.
6 have jumped 16'0, but only 4 have done it more than once.
Shot 1. Karissa Knabenshue Buckhannon-Upshur
2. Sarah Fisher Wheeling Park
3. Kiana Weller Jefferson
4. Megan Turley Hurricane
5. Mercedes Dowell Buckhannon-Upshur
6. Bethany Drury St. Albans
Knabenshue is the defending champion and has five throws that are over 2 1/2 feet further than
anyone else's best. Two others have topped 37'0. Three others have topped 36'0.
Discus 1. Karissa Knabenshue Buckhannon-Upshur
2. Alexis Montes John Marshall
3. Mercedes Dowell Buckhannon-Upshur
4. Sarah Fisher Wheeling Park
5. Samantha Fletcher Morgantown
6. Bethany Drury St. Albans
Again, Knabenshue has five throws that are at least 10' further than anyone else's best. Montes
and Dowell have been over 115'. Fisher won the event last year. 6 have thrown at least 110'.
12 have thrown at least 100'.
