Class A Boys Individual Event Predictions
100 M 1. Casey Pingley Valley Wetzel
2. Corey Aichele Doddridge
3. Will Dobbins Charleston Catholic
4. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville
5. Joshua Parker East Hardy
6. Ronald Swaniger Clay-Battelle
Pingley has the top time and ran well at his Regional. Aichele has the most runs under 11.60.
Dobbins may be a bit banged up since he only ran one event at the Regional. I'm assuming he'll
be healthy. Only 1 has been under 11.50. 6 have been under 11.60 (though only 4 have done it FAT).
200 M 1. Michael Robinson Charleston Catholic
2. Tanner Graham Pocahontas
3. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville
4. Derek Renner St. Marys
5. Casey Pingley Valley Wetzel
6. Corey Aichele Doddridge
Robinson has 3 runs better than anyone else's best. He's gone 23.02. No one else has been under
23.35. Two others have been under 23.40. Two more have been under 23.60. 9 have been under 24.
400 M 1. Derek Renner St. Marys
2. Tanner Graham Pocahontas
3. Daniel Plaugher Doddridge
4. Issac Gaines South Harrison
5. Carter Huffman Wheeling Central
6. Zach Bennett Richwood
Renner is the only one to have gone under 52, which he's done twice. He has 3 runs better than anyone
else's best. Graham has 5 runs under 53. Plaugher is the only other one to have been under 53.
3 others have been under 54.
800 M 1. Dominic Rich Buffalo
2. Aaron Lockhart Williamstown
3. Andrew Shaffer Richwood
4. Charlie Drazba St. Marys
5. Josh Quinn Wirt
6. Jordan Whitehair St. Marys
A year after it took under 2:02 to get in the top 5, a 2:04 is the best time coming in.
Rich has three runs under 2:07. Lockhart has the only run under 2:05. Three have been
under 2:06. 5 have been under 2:07. 9 have been under 2:09.
1600 M 1. Andrew Shaffer Richwood
2. Evan Childers Buffalo
3. Charlie Drazba St. Marys
4. Caleb Moore Doddridge
5. Derek Bayless St. Marys
6. Marcus Black Charleston Catholic
Shaffer has the top time in the field by over 4 seconds. Three have been under 4:40. Four
have been under 4:41. Only 5 have been under 4:50.
3200 M 1. Evan Childers Buffalo
2. Andrew Shaffer Richwood
3. Caleb Moore Doddridge
4. Charlie Drazba St. Marys
5. Marcus Black Charleston Catholic
6. Jordan Whitehair Doddridge
Childers is the only one to have gone under 10:00 and he's done it three times. He has the
best time in the field by 13 seconds. Shaffer only has the fourth best time, but he did run
9:52 last year. Four have been under 10:10.
110 HH 1. George Maddox East Hardy
2. Daniel Plaugher Doddridge
3. Dylan McNutt Williamstown
4. Brett Wright St. Marys
5. Jared Dunn Cameron
6. Tyler Zahnow Bishop Donahue
Maddox has the best FAT time in the field. He also has a questionable 15.14 converted hand-time.
I haven't seen enough from East Hardy to know for sure. Plaugher is the only one with a full
series of sub-16's. Four have been under 16.
300 IH 1. Daniel Plaugher Doddridge
2. Dylan McNutt Williamstown
3. George Maddox East Hardy
4. Jared Dunn Cameron
5. David Taylor Richwood
6. Tyler Zahnow Bishop Donahue
Plaugher has the only sub-41 in the field and the only full series of sub-42's. McNutt and Maddox
have been under 42. McNutt had the best Regional time. Those three have been under 42. Only one
other competitor has been under 43.
4x100 M 1. Charleston Catholic
2. Doddridge
3. Williamstown
4. Clay-Battelle
5. Wheeling Central
6. Pendleton
Charleston Catholic can add Will Dobbins (assuming he's healthy) back into the lineup, and that
should make them a fairly solid favorite. They've run under 45 with their top lineup. Only
Doddridge has run under 46 amont the remaining field. However, there are 10 teams that have
run under 47.
4x200 M 1. Charleston Catholic
2. Doddridge
3. Williamstown
4. Pendleton
5. Calhoun
6. Pocahontas
Again, Charleston Catholic can add Will Dobbins into the lineup. They have the best time in the
field even without him, but he would seal the deal. With him, Charleston Catholic has run under
1:34. No one else has gone under 1:36. 5 have gone under 1:37. Pocahontas could take Tanner
Graham out of the 100 and put him in this event and move up as far as fourth. Without him, they
do indeed risk not placing.
4x400 M 1. Pocahontas
2. St. Marys
3. Charleston Catholic
4. Williamstown
5. Buffalo
6. Doddridge
Charleston Catholic might be able to do enough maneuvering to win this event as well. It would
require moving Michael Robinson off the 4x100 or 4x200, though, and putting those events back at
risk. Simply adding Will Dobbins helps immensely. Pocahontas has the only other run under 3:40.
St. Marys can possibly hit in the 3:36 range, which could be enough to win it. Charleston Catholic
and Doddridge will have to help each other out in the first heat.
4x800 M 1. St. Marys
2. Buffalo
3. Williamstown
4. Doddridge
5. Charleston Catholic
6. Pocahontas
Buffalo has the best time and seems to have the upper edge, but St. Marys just beat them at the
Regional without their complete lineup. St. Marys adds Charlie Drazba to the lineup at the State
Meet and takes a very close battle. Williamstown hasn't been as fast as Doddridge so far, but
they have the horses to run under 8:40. Charleston Catholic can again do some maneuvering, but
I don't know if it's enough to crack the top 4. It might be.
Shuttle 1. Doddridge
2. St. Marys
3. Williamstown
4. Charleston Catholic
5. Buffalo
6. Richwood
Doddridge has the best time in the field and is the only team with a pair of sub 63's. St. Marys
had the best Regional time of the group. Williamstown only has the 6th best time, but they ran
1:03.92 at the Regional without Dylan McNutt. I'm guessing they swap him out of the 4x200 and use
him in the Shuttles. 6 teams have been under 1:04. 9 have been under 1:05. East Hardy could be
dangerous if they can teach Joshua Parker how to hurdle between Regional and State.
H Jump 1. Anthony Aviles Gilmer
2. Issac Gaines South Harrison
3. Brett Wright St. Marys
4. Dillon Muhly-Alexander Doddridge
5. Tyler Allen Buffalo
6. David Beiter Bishop Donahue
Aviles and Gaines are the only ones with multiple 6'2 jumps. Wright has the only 6'4 jump in the
field. Five have cleared 6'0. 7 have cleared 5'10.
P Vault 1. Alex Marchetti Williamstown
2. Keiffer Reed Charleston Catholic
3. Cam Kinder Gilmer
4. Daniel Scott Wheeling Central
5. Franklin Crouch Doddridge
6. Mitchell Goertler Williamstown
Marchetti and Reed have cleared 14'0. Marchetti has a slightly better overall series. Kinder has
battled injury all season and vaulted at the Regional for the first time since April 9th. He cleared
13'0. Scott has also cleared 13'0.
L Jump 1. Andrew Humphrey Mount Hope
2. John Paul Tupta Charleston Catholic
3. Joshua Parker East Hardy
4. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville
5. Aaron Jones Williamstown
6. Dylan Fetty St. Marys
What a mess. 7 have been over 20'. Only Humphrey and Tupta have done it twice. 10 have at least
two 19' jumps. There's really no favorites or underdogs here. Who's jumping well on that day
will be all that matters.
Shot 1. Aaron Schneid Wheeling Central
2. Hayden Ullman St. Marys
3. Spencer Mason Valley Wetzel
4. Evan Rose Pocahontas
5. Evan Smith Williamstown
6. Robert Stump Gilmer
The top three have season best throws of 49'10, 49'9, and 49'8, respectively. All three have thrown
over 49' at least twice, but only Schneid has done it 3 times. Ullman has a better overall series
than Mason. Rose and Smith have both thrown over 45 multiple times. No one else has been over 43'.
Discus 1. Aaron Schneid Wheeling Central
2. Evan Rose Pocahontas
3. Spencer Mason Valley Wetzel
4. Jimmy Jemison St. Marys
5. Alex Myers Wirt
6. Hayden Ullman St. Marys
Schneid has the best throw in the field by over 14'. His # 5 throw is almost 3' better than anyone
else's best. Four have been over 130'. 8 have been over 120'.
High Point Predictions
1. Daniel Plaugher Doddridge 26.50
2. Andrew Shaffer Richwood 24
3. Evan Childers Buffalo 21
4. Aaron Schneid Wheeling Central 20
5. Tanner Graham Pocahontas 18.50
