GENERAL INFORMATION The entry deadline will be Monday, April 12. All entries should be e-mailed or faxed to WHS by 3 p.m. on that day. Entries may be submitted by using the event files posted on runWV.com.
Event scratches/replacements will be accepted by Fax (304-375-6194) until 3 p.m. on Friday, April 16. Please make every effort to comply with this deadline as only scratches will be accepted on race day and no replacements will be made. Entries may also be sent using HyTek Master Lite on the RunWV.com website under News and Notes. Because this meet is early in the season, you may submit an athlete’s best performance from last year – as no current marks may be available. Qualification in the 100 and 200 meter sprints, and High Hurdles will be based on the six fastest times in the preliminary heats. All others will be seeded by entry times. Three athletes from each team may be entered in individual events and one relay team in each relay event.
In the long jump, shot put and the discus events each entrant will be given four attempts. Starting heights will be 6 feet for the girls and 8 feet for the boys in the Pole Vault. The opening heights in the High Jump will be 4 and 5 feet, respectively, for girls and boys. Interval raises will be 6 inches in the Pole Vault and 2 inches in the High Jump.
Ribbons will be awarded to all six placers in all events. Plaques will be awarded to the winning and runner-up teams in each division, as well as high point scorers in each division.
Bring your own batons. Starting blocks will be provided, however, you may use your own blocks if they are equipped with appropriate spikes. Only pyramid style spikes with maximum length of 3/16 of an inch will be permitted on shoes and starting blocks. No needle or other style spikes! Please inform your runners and check all shoes and blocks for appropriate spikes.
General admission will be $5 per adult or student. Gates will open at 9 a.m. near the finish line and by the Shot Put area. Bus parking is available in the lot near the shot put area and in the adjoining city park. Buses will not be permitted to park in the lot adjacent to the school and teams should sit and erect tents in designated areas only. T-shirts will be available for $10 each.
Coaches will be given tickets for their complementary lunches at our school cafeteria and our concession stand will be open throughout the meet. Also, remind your runners that one-of-a-kind Running With Ryan shirts will be available for purchase.
