The Capital City Striders Track & Field teams youth division is competing and making a mark at the USA Track & Field Region 5 Championships at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond KY this week end.

Sprinters Jontavese Brown, Torrie Starcher and Nathan Barham set the tone for USATF National qualification with dominating performances in their age groups:

Starcher torched the field in 8 and under girls 100m in 15.49 sec. and 400m in 1:16.34

Barham did like wise in the 8 and under boys 100m 15.19 sec. and the 400 in 1:14.73

Brown the same in the 10 and under boys 100 14.27 sec & 400 in 1:08.63

Bryce Jones 13 – 14 boys 100m 3^rd 12.03

Cassidy Osborne-Butler 11-12 girls shot put 1^st 9.99m

Aaliyah Dunham 11- 12 girls High Jump 1^st 1.15m

Lauren London 13-14 girls Pole Vault 1^st 2.6m

Cody Sheppard 13-14 boys 100m hurdles 3^rd 17.81

Mark Britton 17-18 boys Discus 1^st 52.83m

2^nd Place Boys 4x100 Relay Avery Bruer, Zachary Cohen & Trenton Williams 1:13.96

Daniel Brown of Huntington Tri State AC also qualified in the 100m in 11.02 sec.
