Laidley Field is made available to the athletes of USA Track
& Field by the Kanawha County School System and the
Individual
Entries & Relays must be on USATF Multi level Entry Forms. All Individual
Members of Relays entries must be attached to Relay
Forms.
LOCAL SPONSORS:
MEET DIRECTORS: William “Chip” Ferrell and Paul J. Gilmer, Jr,
QUALIFIERS: Top 6 (six) in each event &
top 4 (four) relays who have qualified and registered at a USATF Region 5 Association
qualifying meet. There will not be
any on site adding to events or changing events.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Your entry for the Region 5 Meet can only be made at the site
of the Association meet. Entries will
be accepted only from the Association Directors. Youth Directors must have paper entries, HY-Tek
Backup and advances file and entry fees to the Regional meet Directors no later
than 6:00 PM July
6th, 2009.
ENTRY FEES: 7.00 per event and $28.00 per Relay Team. Entry fees are non-refundable.
CHECK IN: Pick up Numbers at the track Thursday &
Friday and at meet headquarters Friday & Saturday, 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
REQUIREMENTS: All athletes who compete in an Association meet must be USA
Track & Field members. Athletes
without membership cards will not be allowed to participate. Cards must be purchased prior to first
qualifying level & will NOT be sold at the Regional Meet. Date of Birth must be verified at the
Association level and
indicated on the paper order entry documents.
AWARDS: Medals
will be awarded for places One thru Three & ribbons for places Four thru
Six. Relay team medals places One thru Three.
ADVANCEMENT: Top three place finishers in each event
and top three relays will qualify to the USA Track & Field National Junior Olympics
July 27th – Aug. 1st ,2009,
at
GATE FEES: There will be a $3.00 charge per person,
and $1.50 for children 12 & under.
Parking is free.
Athletes
& Coaches with proof of a current 2009
1. The Officials at this meet are volunteers.
A. They
volunteered because of their love of track and field and their desire to help
young people. They should be treated
with respect. If an error is made, it
will not be intentional, and if politely approached, we are sure any
correctable problem will be dealt with fairly.
B. In
the event that you feel you must file a protest, this is the procedure:
i) Rule
violations or improper procedures in variance to USATF rules are protest
able. Judgments are not protest able.
ii) Protests
should be made in writing by
the athlete only to the running referee or the field
referee. (Anyone with a radio can direct
you.)
2. The track has an all weather Tartan
surface: spike length is not to exceed 1/4 inch.
3. Restrooms are located under the North
and South Stands. Women’s and men’s can
be available on either side.
4. Fully automatic timing by KVT&FOA
using the Finish Lynx system will be used throughout the meet. Athletes may be given a hand time and/or a place at the finish
line. These are not the official
results. Certified photo evaluators will
determine the official results, which
may differ from the hand times and places given by the finish line.
5. Competition Procedures:
A. Numbers
must be worn on the front of the
athletes for runners. Field athletes may
wear them front or back.
B. Check
in:
i)Track athletes report to the clerk of the course at the
check in area in the east end of the stadium at least 10 minutes before the
race.
ii)Field athletes report to your event area at least 10
minutes before your competition.
C. The competition
on the track is on a rolling time schedule.
It is the athlete’s responsibility to listen to the announcer and judge
the correct time.
D. NO
spikes are to be worn if warm ups are conducted on the football field. If you are jogging for a long time, do so
outside the stadium
i) No
warm ups on the track during events or near the finish area. Please stay out of
the finish line area at all times.
6. Results, Awards, and Advancement:
A. Results
will be posted on the wall at the Northwest corner of the Stadium as soon as
they have been compiled.
B. The
top six finishers should proceed to the awards table after the results have
been announced. Allow adequate time for
compiling of results before expecting your award.
7. First Aid: Trainers are present to
treat injuries.
They will be located under a tent near the finish line. They provide
first aid supplies only. If you need
additional help, you may ask for assistance, however you should provide any
materials needed (tape, ice, ace bandages, etc).
Ice
water is available all over the facility.
No ice will be provided at the concession stand (please do not ask).
8.
Starting
blocks are provided. If you want to use
your own blocks, they must be approved by the meet director, clerk, or starter.
9. No fires or barbecues or glass
containers are allowed in the stadium.
10. Laidley Field is a smoke free facility. Smokers must exit the gates in order to
smoke.
