Ritchie Co. High School will be hosting a throws clinic for Middle School Athletes, Grades 6-8, on Feb. 28, 2009.

Greg Henger, Throws coach for Ritchie Co., will be the presenting clinician. In ten years with Ritchie Co., the program has produced seven state Discus championships and fifteen total medals in the throwing events at the State Meet. Henger is a senior staff member with the John Powell Throwing Camp at Dennison College in Granville, OH.

This is a "learn by doing" clinic and will emphasize the basics in learning the Discus turn and the Glide techniques for the Shot Put. Supporting drills for both events will also be presented. Athletes should come prepared to work.

Registration will begin at 8:30am with the clinic starting at 9:00am. The morning session will be devoted to the Discus with the afternoon session beginning at 1:00pm and focusing on the Shot Put. We will break for lunch about noon and should finish up by 3:00pm.

The cost for the clinic is $10.00 for athletes while coaches can attend for free. Advance registration is requested to ensure that equipment needs will be met for the clinic. Clinc fees can be paid on the day of the clinic.
