Dear Track & Field Contact:

Please find enclosed copies of entry forms for the 2006 WV Amateur Youth & Open Track & Field Championships at Laidley Field.  They include events for all ages and gender and are intended to increase West Virginia’s participation in organized athletics and physical fitness.  Although two of these events are qualifiers and some competitors will advance to Regional and National competition, we place a high priority on participation.

The Capital City Striders, Inc., youth track & field club was founded in 1982 and has since been committed to providing quality track and field, as well as cross-country.

All events are sanctioned by the USA Track & Field Association and/or the Amateur Athletics Union. The Striders are a member of both. We are also looking for officials and volunteers to help us conduct these events.

I also encourage you to check out (usatf.org) and (aausports.org) for information about our sport. Join one or both and help us continue to move West Virginia back in good standings with both these National organizations.

The major events we will conduct at Laidley Field are:

June 9-10       The 20th Annual Capital City Strider Invitational (open to all)

June 17          West Virginia USATF Association Championships (ages 6 thru 18)

June 17          WV USATF Open, Junior & Masters Division Championships (ages 19+)

June 17          West Virginia AAU Association Championships (ages 6 thru 18)

If you are not the person who should receive this information, please forward this packet and have him/her to advise us where future mailings should be sent.

We are also promoting the development of additional track clubs in our state.  We will provide as much assistance as possible to get interested parties started.

If I can be of service, please call me at (304)343-0128/day or (304)389-1982/night, fax to 304/343-0129 or (PJGilmer@aol.com).

Yours in Track & Field,
