3^rd ANNUAL VERITY PATRIOT RELAYS

Coaches:

Verity Middle School extends an invitation to your boys and girls teams to join us for a great night of track and field at the 3rd Annual Patriot Relays at the Ashland Athletic Complex on the campus of Paul Blazer High School in Ashland, KY on Friday, April 14, 2006.

If entering using Hy-Tek, the entry fee for each team is $30.00, or both boys and girls teams can be registered for $55.00. If entering by fax or by e-mail, the entry fee for each team is $35.00, or both boys and girls can be registered for $65.00. If a school is bringing less than 8 athletes total, the individual entry fee is $5 per athlete. Each “B” team can enter for $20.00.

All events, including field events, will be conducted as relays. Best performances of participants from each school will be totaled to determine a team effort, which will then be awarded places. Scoring will be 10-8-6-4-2-1. Medals will be awarded to first place, and ribbons to second through sixth place finishers. Trophies will be awarded to first and second place teams.

Please e-mail or fax relay team times for each race, along with names and distance/height of two (2) athletes in each field event by Monday, April 10th. A $10 late fee will be charged after this date. We will allow any school to enter two relay teams, but only one team would score. “B” Teams will be scored separately and this doesn’t pertain to them.

Our eight-lane rubberized track surface requires ¼” or shorter spikes. NO TAPE is to be used anywhere on the track or runway surfaces. Chalk and aluminum runway markers will be available. We ask that each team provide a volunteer (assistant coach/parent) to help conduct the events. We have two runways into a large common pit. With enough volunteers, the triple jump and long jump may be conducted simultaneously.

A coaches meeting will be at 5:15 p.m. at the start/finish line and competition will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the field events. Running events will begin at 6:00 p.m. and then proceed on a rolling schedule. Concessions will be available and anyone other than athletes, coaches and bus drivers will be charged admission to enter the facility. Restrooms will be available at the Ashland Athletic Complex.

*Field Event Relay (4x100) – Athletes must have competed in either the shot put or discus (will be a scored event)

Pole vault - girls, then boys

* Long jump and Triple Jump will be conducted as a one (1) hour open pit, in order shown on schedule
