LADY BULLDOG TRACK & FIELD “3 DECADE CELEBRATION”
Doddridge County High School is pleased to announce a special celebration for all girls who have ever participated in Track & Field at DCHS, along with their coaches, to be held at Cline Stansberry Stadium in West Union, West Virginia, on Friday, April 22, during this year’s Cline Stansberry Invitational.
This year marks the 30th season of track & field for girls at the school. DCHS is inviting all participants and coaches that have been involved with the Lady Bulldog Track & Field Program to join them for a “3 Decades of Doggone Dominance Celebration”. As they did with the “20th Century Lady Bulldog Basketball Celebration” back in 2000, the school will present all former & current Lady Bulldog Track & Field Participants and Coaches in attendance with commemorative bells, custom made for the occasion by Fenton Art Glass. The presentations will be made between the 1st and 2nd sessions of the 2005 Cline Stansberry Invitational. DCHS is asking that honorees be at the meet by 6:00pm. Spouses and children of honorees will be admitted to the meet free of charge.
Because the custom bells must be ordered in advance, DCHS is asking that individuals interested in coming to the celebration contact the school (873-2521) or Coach Craig Kellar (873-1594). They may also e-mail Coach Kellar at coachcmk@hotmail.com or write to him at 201 Homestead St., West Union, WV 26456. Coach Kellar needs to know the name of the participant (include maiden name, if married) and the year that they graduated (or would have graduated if they moved away or did not finish school at DCHS.) Past coaches (which includes coaches who may have officially been labeled as “boys’ coaches”, which, of course, always helped with the girls, as well) should give us the years that they coached, if possible. The deadline to register for this event, due to constraints at Fenton Art Glass, to be guaranteed a commemorative bell, is Friday, March 18. Of course, anyone wanting to attend this special event could register at any time, but the bells must be ordered ahead of time.
DCHS realizes that time is of the essence, so, we need the public’s help in getting the word out. Please let our former Ladydog track & field participants and coaches know about this special event.
DCHS will publish weekly the names of those that have registered in the Herald-Record Newspaper in West Union. Questions may be directed to Coach Craig Kellar at the phone # or e-mail address listed above.
