Bridgeport High School

On March 5, 2005 Bridgeport High School Track & Field and Harry Green 7 Acres will present the Clinic of Champions at Bridgeport High School. The Clinic of Champions is organized by Keith Kelly of Atlanta, GA. A veteran track coach in the Atlanta area, Keith has many ties to WV and is trying to promote track and field in our state. I attended his clinic that was held at the Caperton Center in Clarksburg last year. While last years clinic was successful, I know that with our help this years clinic will be even better. All of the details are not yet settled, but right now I can tell you that it will be on March 5, 2005 from 1:30 to 5:30pm. The clinic will be called - " Harry Green 7 Acres presents the Clinic of Champions ". The clinic will offer a variety of speakers covering all areas of Track & Field and Cross Country. There should be speakers for all events including sprints, hurdles, mid distance, long distance, road racing, shot & disc, long jump, high jump and pole vault. In addition, several vendors (currently 5 - Zides, Dick's , Dixie Sports, Bob Reep's and ToyBoy) will have track & field related displays and merchandise for sale before (starting about 1:00pm), during and after the clinic (til about 6:00pm). There will also be drawings for numerous door prizes to be given away during the clinic. We will have college coaches available to discuss the college recruiting process, admissions requirements, scholarships, etc. Also we will have two $500 scholarships (one boy and one girl) to be given to clinic attendees. The applications will be filled out during the clinic with the scholarship winners announced in June or July. In the next couple of weeks, I should have more information on registration, the speakers, and a tentative schedule for the clinic. I will get you more info on the clinic as we get more details nailed down.
