April 3, 2004
Dear Coach:
This is your information packet on the 2004 Cline Stansberry Invitational Track Meet to be held on Friday, April 23, 2004 at Cline Stansberry Stadium in West Union, WV.
Time: Field events will begin at 3:30pm. We hope to start running events around 4:00pm. We will follow the format for a two-session meet. We will be proceeding on a rolling schedule, so coaches and athletes must listen to calls and be ready. There will be a 30-minute break between the boys’ 400m dash and the girls’ 4x800m relay.
Awards: Trophies will be given to the top 3 teams and to the “high point” individual in both the boys and girls divisions. Also, winners of each event will receive medals. Ribbons will be awarded to placers 2 – 6 in all events.
Entry Fee: $25 per team. Make checks payable to DCHS Athletics. Please mail it promptly. ($50 total for boys and girls.)
Entry Deadline: Friday, April 16, 2004.
Entries: A team may enter two individuals per individual event and 1 relay team per relay event. (Sorry it’s only two, but we have 19 boys teams and 18 girls teams participating.) Please submit only accurate times run already this season!
Scratches: Please FAX your scratches and replacements before noon on meet day (873-1873). Last minute scratches and replacements will also be accepted until 3:00pm at the meet. However, please make every effort to get this information to us no later than noon.
Miscellaneous: The concession stand will be open. Starting blocks will be provided. The longest spikes allowed on our track are ¼ inch. The following field events will be run first: Girls shot put, pole vault, & high jump and Boys discus & long jump. Participants in the throws and long jump will get 3 attempts in the trials. The top 7 will qualify for 3 additional attempts in the finals. Meet T-Shirts will be on sale at the meet. We have ordered 144. Please tell your athletes!
There are three ways to get your entries to us:
The 1980’s method: You could mail your completed entry form to
Craig Kellar at Doddridge County High School, 201 Homestead St., West Union,
WV 26456.
The 1990’s method: You could fax your completed entry form to Craig Kellar at 873-1873.
The 2000’s method: You could use the system that Bridgeport High School uses for its home meets. If you choose this method, you will need to use the Team Manager Lite software, which is available for download at www.bridgeporttrack.com. Once you have downloaded this program you will then need the event file for the Cline Stansberry Invitational. This file will be posted at www.runwv.com by Monday, April 12. You then need to download this file and import it into the Team Manager Lite program that you have already downloaded. Then you do your entries, export the meet entries, and e-mail your entry file to runwv@runwv.com. This is the preferred method. It gets you in good with the meet director and the “runwv guy”! Also, it is very accurate, efficient and saves time, as the entries do not have to be typed into our computer. This is good for you as your entries will be as accurate as you make them. They go straight from you to our computer. Also, you can use the Team Manager Lite program for later meets, including the regional, with great ease and efficiency. It’s good for us as your entry can be put into the Hy-Tek program in a matter of seconds using this method! Also, if you use this method, your deadline is extended to Monday, April 19, 2004.
If you have questions, you can call Craig Kellar at 873-1594 (home) or 873-2521 (work). You can e-mail him at coachcmk@hotmail.com.
Teams which have expressed an interest in this year’s meet include:
