I think this ends quite a bit closer than what they RunWV Power Rankings show. I've felt like Morgantown has
been underrated all season long. That being said, I still have Cabell Midland winning it fairly handily with a
22 point margin. I don't think anyone else can top them. I have a nice battle for 3rd between Hurricane and
University, and I ended up with Hurricane taking the spot by 7 points. I only have 12 points separating the
next 3 teams with Preston holding just a 1 point edge for 5th over Parkersburg, and Parkersburg South just another
11 points behind. It would be no shock for any of those 3 to take the 5th spot, but moving up into the top 4
would be an impressive rise. Washington could fit into that mix also, and climbing up to 5th isn't out of the
question for them either.

Predicted Class AAAA Girls Top 25
Brenna Tipton hasn't really been challenged in State all season. The closest any in-state competitor has been to
her is 23 seconds. She has established herself as the one to beat. Savannah Pritt gets the nod for 2nd. She has
been challenged is her last two meets and has risen to the occasion to win by 6 and 4 seconds, respectively. That's
certainly no given, but it's enough to give her the spot. I put Morgan Metz in the 3rd position. She's the one
who has been right on the heels of Pritt the last two meets. Sadie Yates is in the 4th position. She spent a
fair portion of the season ranked in the #2 spot, and it would be no surprise to me if she were to take that runner-up
spot. She hasn't squared off against the other top dogs in the field much this year, so there is not a lot of
head-to-head data on which to rely. I did have two comparable data points with Metz, and Metz came out on top
of both of those, leading to Metz getting the 3rd spot. Abigail Rogers is in the 5th position. She hasn't been
quite up to those top 4, but she's generally bee well ahead of everyone else. Lauren Hawkins takes the 6th spot.
As she is typically a strong big-meet performer, I expect no less this time around. I moved Francy Tidd into
the 7th spot. She has upper her game late in the season, and that strong trajectory should propel her. I put
Cara Zundell in the 8th position. She didn't run at the Pre-Region or Regional Meets, but I think she'll be
back on the line on Saturday. She's actually ranked 6th, but I'm taking a little off for the down time. I have
Lindsey Bailey in the 9th spot. She has ascended well throughout the season and had graded out with double digit
point gains in every meet until the Regional. I have Sofie Zappitelli in the final podium spot. She had the
7th best Regional run in the field and could easily move up. I think we easily get down into the 16-17 range of
very legitimate podium candidates, and if you would consider anyone within 30 seconds as a legitimate candidate,
it climbs to 25 very reasonable picks. How precarious are these picks? I changed two of them while I was typing
this summary. It should be a fun way to kick off a brisk morning. That briskness will be one of the x-factors
in this meet. 9:00 will probably be in the low 40's, and some will handle that chill better than others.
