Regional Preview - Class AAAA Boys

Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish a certain number of places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would another number of places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different.

AAAA Boys

North Region: This Region will advance 6 teams. University looks to have thing in control. Morgantown looks pretty solid for the 2nd spot. Jefferson has 3rd, and Wheeling Park has 4th. There's a gap back to #5 Spring Mills. I have Preston narrowly in the 6th spot. They've had injury issues and with just 5 runners that have completed a race this year, if one is out, so are they. That could change things pretty dramatically, not only in the team race but in the individuals that advance. Individually, the top 10 ranked runenrs not on one of those 6 teams are Hedgesville's Reagan Hardin (#19), Musselman's Justin Jordan (#21), Washington's Josh Molnar (#27), Washington's Eli Daly (#40), Washington's Alejandro Nance (#41), Musselman's Trevor Mills (#42), Musselman's Landon Butler (#46), Hedgesville's Bryce Cookus (#47), Martinsburg's James Riley (#48), and Musselman's Kyle Segal (#49). Runners within 60 points of those 10 are Martinsburg's Lochlyn Campbell (#50), Musselman's Calvin Heflin (#56), and Martinsburg's Jayden Garcia (#57). The North Region has 69 Ranked Runners. I estimate 68 runners competing in this race.

South Region: This Region will advance 6 teams. Cabell Midland appears to have the top spot with Parkersburg in firm control of 2nd. I have Woodrow Wilson edging Hurricane for the 3rd spot with George Washington not far behind. I have Buckhannon-Upshur in the 6th spot. Individually, the top 10 ranked runners not on one of those 6 teams are Parkersburg South's Gatlin McLain (#7), Huntington's Mason Dewdny (#22), Parkersburg South's Jesse Morris (#24), Huntington's Jacob Waugh (#34), Parkersburg South's Cayson Litton (#41), Riverside's Elijah Schoolcraft (#52), Huntington's Aiden Scheidler (#55), Huntington's Henry Davis (#56), Huntington's Gavin Adkins (#57), and Oak Hill's Nathaniel Lyons (#58). This brings up the same dilemma as in the South Region girls as Huntington has 5 of these spots, which is enough for a team score. Would they count as team or not and if not, how does the system exclude them? The question has been asked. Runners within 60 points of those 10 are Huntington's Peyton Scheidler (#62), Parkesburg South's Brent Feels (#64), and Huntington's Maximus Carey (#65). There are 87 Ranked Runners in the South Region. I estimate 67 runners competing in this race.
