Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish a certain number of places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would another number of places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different.
Region I: This Region will advance 3 teams. Doddridge looks like they are the clear favorite. I have Williamstown edging out Tyler Consolidated by 4 points for the 2nd spot. Those 3 have a pretty good gap on #4. Individually, the Top 5 ranked runners not on one of those 3 teams are Ravenswood's Gavin Wilburn (#5), Ravenswood's Johnny Heath (#13), Weir's Isaiah Smith (#17), Weir's Ezell Grays III (#18), and Ravenswood's Linkin Andrick (#19). Grays hasn't ran since 9/26. If he's out, the next one in would be Ravenswood's Isiah Nesselroad (#20). Runners within 60 points of those 5 that are not on an expected advancing team are Ravenswood's Isiah Nesselroad (#20) and Ravenswood's Kaden Gray (#23). Region I has 25 ranked runners. I estimate 38 runners competing in this race.
Region II: This Region will advance 3 teams. This should be fairly close at the top. I have Lincoln taking spot by just 6 points over Frankfort. Braxton is well behind but looks pretty good for 3rd. However, one of their top 5 hasn't competed since 9/16. If he's out, I still have them in the spot but by just 4 points. Individually, the Top 5 ranked runners not on one of those 3 teams are Philip Barbour's Jacob Burner (#9), Berkeley Springs' Josh Walls (#13), South Harrison's Nathaniel Linger (#14), South Harrison's Brennen Myers (#19), and Berkeley Springs' Jay Nazelrod (#20). There are no ranked runners within 60 ponts of those 5 that are not on an expected advancing team. Region II has 25 ranked runners. I estimate 38 runners competing in this race.
Region III: This Region will advance 3 teams. James Monroe appears to have a very solid grasp of the top spot. It gets close after this with 3 teams within 9 points of each other. I have Westside in the 2nd spot and Summers County in the 3rd with Liberty Raleigh needing to step up a bit to get in. Individually, the Top 2 ranked runners that are not on one of those 3 teams are Independence's Jeffery Watson (#3) and Liberty Raleigh's Tristan Toler (#5). That leaves 3 spots up for grabs. A quick look says that the top candidates for those spots are Liberty Raleigh's Eli Newman, Independence's Jaxon Walls, and Bluefield's Aidan Goforth. Region III has 11 ranked runners. I estimate 47 runners competing in this race.
Region IV: This Region will advance 3 teams. I have Wayne in the top spot by just 3 points over Buffalo. However, their top ranked guy has not competed since 9/20. If he's out, that would move Buffalo into the spot, but they'd still be one of the three teams. It's fairly close for 3rd, but I have Poca in the spot by 9 points over Scott. Individually, the top 5 ranked runners not on one of those 3 teams are Scott's Brayden Lane (#3), Logan's Ian Deskins (#5) - but he hasn't competed since 9/24, Clay County's Kaden Fitzwater (#10), Scott's Byrson Miller (#11), and Scott's Tyson Hall (#19). Region IV has 19 ranked runners. I estimate 42 runners competing in this race.
