Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish a certain number of places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would another number of places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different.
Region I: This Region will advance 3 teams. St. Marys should have an easy time of it. I have Ritchie nipping Wheeling Central for 2nd by 2 points. Individually, the Top 3 ranked runners not on one of those 3 teams are Wood County Christian's Elliot Handley (#3), Wood County Christian's Amber Perkins (#5), and Madonna's Sophia Soly (#8). That leaves two spots up for grabs. The most likely candidates are Cameron's Abigail Richmond and Magnolia's Rylee Lookadoo. Handley hasn't competed since 9/20. If she's out, it actually looks like the spot would not be filled. By appearances, everyone that runs in this meet will advance. Region I has 15 ranked runners. I estimate 25 runners competing in this race.
Region II: This Region will likely only advance 2 teams. Trinity Christian should easily hold the top spot, and East Hardy should claim the other. Both appear to only have 5 runners, so everyone has to get across the line. There are two others that have 4 on the roster. If one of them has a 5th girl that hadn't made it onto their official roster yet, we could get a 3rd team. Individually, the Top 3 ranked runners that are not on one of these two teams are Tucker's Estoria Chase (#1), Tucker's Addie Moats (#5), and Pendleton County's Callie Dunn (#7). That leaves two spots up for grabs. A quick look says that the most likely candidates are Clay-Battelle's Mia Hellyer and Clay-Battelle's Ali Hellyer. Region II has 9 ranked runners. I estimate 21 runners competing in this race.
Region III: This Region will advance 1 team. Mount View is the only complete team in the region, so they should have an easy time of it. There are actually no ranked runners in this Region. That leaves all 5 spots up for grabs. However, by the looks of it, only 3 other girls have competed for any of these teams. So 3 spots should go to Webster County's Jasmine White, Webster County's Karley Varney, and Richwood's Bryann Crist. Crist hasn't competed since 8/30, so she may no longer be active. A couple teams have a runner or two listed on their roster, but they haven't competed this year. Region III has 0 ranked runners. I estimate 8 runners competing in this event.
Region IV: This Region will advance 2 teams. It should be pretty close, but I have Wirt County taking the win over Charleston Catholic by 3 points. Charleston Catholic has a couple girls that are good but have only competed one time all season, and their top runner has only competed twice. Individually, there is just one ranked runner that isn't on one of these 2 teams. That is Calhoun's Paige Sterns (#3). That leaves 4 spots up for grabs. A quick look says that the top candidates for those spots are Calhoun's Gabi Smith, Calhoun's Carissa Sands, Tolsia's Carley Bryant, and Calhoun's Khloe Cobbett. Region IV has 6 ranked runners. I estimate 22 runners competing in this race.
