Hurricane's Tys Steorts has been named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Cross Country in West Virginia.
In no surprise, Steorts reclaimed his spot as the Gatorade Player of the Year for West Virginia. This follows a season in which he won the State Meet by 25 seconds. He spent time as the #1 ranked runner in the country and recorded a 14:56 at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational and bettered that two weeks later with a 14:37 victory at the Adidas Challenge in Cary, NC.
In the post-season, he scored a runner-up finish at the 14:36 Nike Southeast Regional with a 14:36 clocking.
