State Meet Qualification Procedure and Regional Cross Country Meets
New Qualifying procedures for the State meet are:
There are 3 ways to qualify for the State Meet.
1. On a team: Top 3 scoring teams qualify for the State meet. If only 2 teams score, only 2 teams qualify. If only 1 team scores, only 1 team will qualify. If no team scores, no team qualifies.
2. The Top 5 exclusive individual finishers not attached to a qualifying team will also qualify for the State Meet.
3. The top 10 finishers in a Regional meet automatically qualify for states. (This could possibly allow more than 5 individuals runners qualifying for states).
Remember that you may declare/enter up to 10 runners in the regional race. Only 7 can start the race. Those three alternates will transfer into the State Meet if the team qualifies by placing in the top 3 teams. However, only 7 runners can compete at the State Meet.
Meet Management
All entries are to be completed on AthleticNET. All results from the regional meet need to be entered and uploaded to AthleticNET.
State Meet officials will send each Regional Director an Athletic.net Meet Management invite for your specific Region. This is to be used for your Regional meet and NOT a meet you set up on Athletic.net. It is important that meet directors and timing people understand the importance of using the link sent to you. If you have already created a Regional Meet on Athletic.net, DELETE IT. IT CANNOT BE USED FOR OUR PURPOSES.
The program you use to time & score your regional is at your discretion. However, results must be uploaded on Athletic.net for State Meet qualifying purposes. Make sure your scoring options are set correctly. If you have questions, please contact Marshall Cavender. Refer to the NFHS Rule Book, page 68, Rule 8, Section 2. Unlike track & field, cross country is advancing athletes based on the above 3 ways mentioned under the state meet qualifying procedures. Timers please make sure that your FAT files or Chip reads are accurate and you are using some form of videoing for backup purposes.
Thank you,
