Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish a certain number of places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would another number of places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different.
Region I: This Region will advance 3 teams. Williamstown should have the top spot well in hand. Elkins looks fairly solid for the 2nd spot, though Julia Biola missed the conference meet. Her status is unknown. I have just 1 point separating 3rd and 4th with East Fairmont getting the edge over Grafton for that 3rd spot. The Top 5 ranked runners that are not on one of the 3 advancing teams are Oak Glen's Lacy Cameron (#4), Grafton's Addison Sole (#6), Weir's Naomi Young (#9), Weir's Olivia Shetler (#14), and Grafton's Sophia Austin (#17). There is only one runner within 60 points of those 5 that is not on an expected advancing team. That is North Marion's Jadyn Duncan (#18). There are 33 ranked runners in Region I.
Region II: This Region will advance 3 teams. Frankfort should easily hold the top spot. Keyser looks pretty solid for the 2nd spot. The 3rd spot is up for grabs. The rankings have Robert C. Byrd in that spot by just 7 points ahead of South Harrison and with 2 additional teams lingering within reach behind them. The Top 5 ranked runners who are no on an expected advancing team are Lincoln's Riley Cochran (#2), South Harrison's Savannah Holden (#4), Hampshire's Bailey Nicholas (#5), Roane's Adalaide Taylor (#8), and South Harrison's Dakota James (#10). Runners within 60 points of those 5 that are not on an expected advancing team are Hampshire's Piper Dawson (#12) and Berkeley Springs' Isabell Bingaman (#13). There are 29 ranked runners in Region II.
Region III: This Region should advance 3 teams. Shady Spring looks like it has an edge for the top spot with Nicholas County not far behind in the 2nd spot. For the 3rd spot, things should be tight between PikeView and James Monroe, and a quick glance at things show not much separating them across the board. PikeView gets the edge from a Power Ranking standpoint, but just by 3 points. There is only 1 ranked runner that is not on an expected advancing team. That is James Monroe's Kynzie Taylor (#6). According to times on Athletic.net, the next four in line would be Clay County's Abigail Grandon, Clay County's Cheyanne Taylor, James Monroe's Gracie Tooze, and Bluefield's Makenzie Kindle. Region III has 13 ranked runners.
Region IV: This Region will advance 3 teams. Herbert Hoover should hold the top spot, and Buffalo should pretty easily take the 2nd one. A quick glance ast season performances says the edge should go to Chapmanville. The unranked runners will certainly tell the tale for the 3rd spot. There are only 2 ranked runners not on an expected advancing team. Those are Ripley's Lanie Knopp (#3) and Poca's Roxy Angell (#7). According to times on Athletic.net, the next three in line would be Wayne's Bella Cyrus, Ripley's Emily Dunlap, and Wayne's Karlie Williamson. Region IV has 11 ranked runners.
