Regional Preview - Class A Girls

Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish a certain number of places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would another number of places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different.

A Girls

Region I: It appears that there will only be 1 team to advance from this Region. Only St. Marys has had 5 runners compete during the season or has 5 on their WVSSAC Roster. So, St. Marys gets that spot. There are only 4 ranked runners not on the expected advancing team are Ritchie's Bentlee Williams (#1), Wood County Christian's Elliot Handley (#6), Wood Country Christian's Amber Perkins (#7), and Tyler Consolidated's Lily Haught (#8). According to times on Athletic.net, the next one in line would be Tyler Consolidated's Andi Fiber. If St. Marys were to place fewer than 5 runners in the top 10, there would be additional individual qualifiers. There are 11 ranked runners in Region I.

Region II: This Region will advance 3 teams. Braxton should hold the top spot with Doddridge pretty easily in the 2nd spot. The 3rd place battle could be pretty tight. Each team only has one ranked runner. A quick glance at seasonal results shows that Trinity Christian likely has the edge for the 3rd spot over Tucker County. There are only 2 ranked runners that are not on one of the expected advancing teams. They are Tucker County's Addie Moats (#13) and East Hardy's Gracie Heishman (#17). According to times on Athletic.net, the next three in line would be Pendleton County's Lanie Sites-Woods, Calhoun County's Gabi Smith, and Pendleton County's Callie Dunn. There are 17 ranked runners in Region II.

Region III: It looks like this is another Region with just one complete team. Charleston Catholic is that team. River View has 5 on their WVSSAC Roster, but only 3 have ran at any point during the season. There is only 1 ranked runner that is not on an expected advancing team. That is Summers County's Avery Lilly (#3). According to times on Athletic.net, the next four in line would be Richwood's Sophie Mullens, River View's Kaci Hatfield, Richwood's Reagan Raffo, and Wyoming East's China Lambert. If Charleston Catholic takes up fewer than 5 of the top 10, then additional individual qualifiers would make it in. There are just 4 ranked runners in Region III.

Region IV: This Region should advance 2 teams. Ravenswood should hold the top spot. Wirt County only has 5, so they all have to make it across the finish line for the team to advance. We'll assume that happens. There is ony 1 ranked runner not on one of those two teams. That is Logan's Keelyn Perry (#3). According to times on Athletic.net, the next four in line would be Logan's Alena Ellis and...that's it. These are the only 3 teams in the Region that have had a runner complete this year. Three other teams have runners on their WVSSAC roster, but I don't know if those are holdovers from a prior year or not. Region IV has 5 ranked runners.
