Regional Preview - Class A Boys

Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish a certain number of places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would another number of places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different.

A Boys

Region I: This Region will advance 3 teams. St. Marys should hold the top spot without any trouble. Tyler Consolidated and Magnolia should battle for the 2nd spot. I should Tyler Consolidated with a slight edge. If Ritchie County is healthy, they could be in the mix as well. The top 5 ranked runners not on an expected advancing team are Ritchie's Dylan Malolepszy (#4), Wood County Christian's Koa Navarro (#11), Ritchie's Blake Seese (#13), Wood County Christian's Jimmy Erlandson (#14), and Wood County Christian's Holden Misel (#17). There are 24 ranked runners in Region I.

Region II: This Region will advance 3 teams. Doddridge should have a firm grip on the top spot. Trinity Christian appears to have a slight edge for the 2nd spot over Tucker County. There are only 3 ranked runners not on one of the expected advancing teams. They are Paw Paw's Donovan Tanouye (#1), Notre Dame's Spencer Morgan (#16), and East Hardy's Jonathan Montgomer (#17). According to times on Athletic.net, the next two in line would be Calhoun County's Jackson Clawson and Pendleton County's Cayson Armstrong. There are 17 ranked runners in Region II.

Region III: This Region could advance 3 teams. Charleston Catholic should run away with the top spot. Summers County should hold the 2nd spot, and Mount View should take the 3rd spot. Mount View has had 5 guys run on the season and has 6 on their WVSSAC roster. They'll need to get 5 across the line to advance. There are just 2 ranked runners that are not on one of the expected advancing teams. They are Wyoming East's Tommy Wikel (#9) and Richwood's Brayden McPherson (#10). According to times on Athletic.net, the next three in line would be Greenbrier West's Elijah Russell, Richwood's Owen Wayne, and River View's Ashton Hunt. There are 10 ranked runners in Region III.

Region IV: It looks like this Region will only advance 1 team. That will be Ravenswood. There are only two ranked runners not on the expected advancing team. They are Wirt County's Matthew Balis (#1) and Wirt County's Byron Long #4). According to times on Athletic.net, the next three in line would be Logan's Ian Deskins, Wirt County's Sam Williams, and Wirt County's Trevor Starcher. There are 4 ranked runners in Region IV.
