Regional Preview - Class A Girls

Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish three (or five) places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would finish six (or ten) places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different. The important thing is that if you have five runners, get them to the starting line. If you have 7, get them to the line. If you only have 3...get them to the line. Your region may be depending on you.

A Girls

Region I: This Region should advance 2 teams. St. Marys and Ritchie appear to have firm grips on those two spots, and in that order. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Virginia Haddox, Anna Bennett, Bentlee Williams, Natalie Bartrug, Chesnee Williams, Maddie Smith, Lily Dillaman, Andrea Davis, Jaela Davis, and Sophie Greenleaf. There are no runners within 60 points of the top 10 that are not on an expected advancing team. The closest is Wheeling Central's Ellie Manning (15th). There are 21 ranked runners in Region I.

Region II: It looks like this Region may advance 3 teams. In order for that to happen, both Gilmer and Notre Dame will have to get their 5 on the line. Doddridge should win the Region handily, and I have a tie for 2nd between Trinity and South Harrison, so if only 2 advance this could get really interesting. Tucker sits outside the top 3 hoping for a great day. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Destiny Berryman, Katie Cottrill, Katie Hicks, Jenna Barnett, Bailey Holden, Cassie Cumberledge, Kaitlyn Key, Reyna Headley, Dakota James, and Savannah Holden. There is only one runner within 60 points of the top 10 not on an expected advancing team. That is Tucker's Addie Moats (11th). There are 17 ranked runners in Region II.

Region III: This Region will advance 2 teams. It should be a tight battle for the top spot, and I show James Monroe edging Charleston Catholic by a point for the spot. No one else should threaten these two. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Bella Boggs, Katie Collins, Hannah Fisher, Abby Dixon, Avery Lilly, Baylee Jarrett, Kynzie Taylor, Mary Rushworth, Gracie Tooze, and Sophie Mullens. There are no other runners within 60 points of the top 10 and not on an expected advancing team. There are 11 ranked runners in Region III.

Region IV: This Region will advance 2 teams. Williamstown will dominate the Region, and I have Ravenswood taking the 2nd spot by just 9 points over Buffalo, so that spot is in play. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Alyssa Sauro, Ava Lightfritz, Cassie Sites, Hadleigh McGoskey, Lexi Wynn, Sydney Anderson, Gwyn Gorrell, Bridget Kirby, Kate Florence, and Cami Samples. There is only one runner within 60 points of the top 10 and not on an expected advancing team. That is Parkersburg Catholic's Seneca Lang (11th). There are 19 ranked runners in Region IV.
