Regional Preview - Class A Boys

Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish three (or five) places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would finish six (or ten) places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different. The important thing is that if you have five runners, get them to the starting line. If you have 7, get them to the line. If you only have 3...get them to the line. Your region may be depending on you.

A Boys

Region I: This Region should advance 3 teams. Everyone that has 5 must get their guys on the line to make that happen. For this preview, I'm assuming it will. St. Marys should hold the top spot. Ritchie looks pretty good for the 2nd spot. I have the battle for the 3rd spot separated by just 4 points with Tyler Consolidated edging out Magnolia for the position. It looks like only 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Aidan Scott, Donovan Tanouye, Amos Kimble, Landen Davis, Max Dauch, Dylan Malolepszy, Travis Moore, Parker Barnes, Riley Dennis, and Shiv Patel. There are no runners within 60 points of the top 10 that aren't on an expected advancing team. The closest is Wheeling Central's Michael Hutnick (14th). There are 22 ranked runners in Region I.

Region II: It looks like this Region can advance 3 teams. In order for this to happen, both Clay-Battelle and Notre Dame must get their 5 on the line. Doddridge appears to have a pretty solid grip on the top spot. Trinity looks to have the 2nd spot well in hand. The battle for 3rd shows pretty close with South Harrison holding a slight edge for the spot. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Carter Sias, Evan McElwayne, Miles Steptoe, Gunner Kimball, Sean Bell, Thunder Gill, Cameron Judy, Josh Berke, Ethan Tomlinson, and David Urso. There are no runners within 60 points of the top 10 that aren't on an expected advancing team. The closest is Tucker's Alex Boyles (17th). There are 21 ranked runners in Region II.

Region III: I only show 2 complete teams in this Region, meaning both will advance. However, I show 3 others with 4 runners. James Monroe looks like they have 6 on their roster, so they could be complete, and if so, the 2nd spot is wide open. As it is, Charleston Catholic runs away with the win, and I have Richwood in the 2nd spot. 10 Individuals will advance. I only have 8 runners ranked for Region 3. Those 8 are Isaac Collins, Will Barton, Hunter Perry, Peter Basdekis, Ewan Becher, Dakota Pettry, Charlie Barton, adn Dickinson Gould. There are 8 ranked runners in Region III.

Region IV: This Region will advance 2 teams. Buffalo and Williamstown will duke it out for the top spot, and I have Buffalo taking it by 5 points. No one should threaten them. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Patrick Reilly, Nicholas Pitchford, Julian Johnson, Frank Conner, Jackson Mallett, Will Coiner, Dyland Blackshire, Chase Pickering, Matthew Balis, and Zander Boyce. Runners within 60 points of the top 10 that aren't on an expected advancing team are Wirt's Byron Long (12th), Wood County Christian's Koa Navarro (14th), Wood County Christian's Jimmy Erlandson (15th), and Wood County Christian's Holden Misel (16th). There are 20 ranked runners in Region IV.
