Alyssa Sauro Named West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year

Williamstown's Alyssa Sauro has been named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Cross Country in West Virginia.

Missing a little time during the season with injury didn't hinder Sauro late as she dominated the field in the Class A State Meet in 17:59.62, easily the fastest time of the day, leading Williamstown to an upset win for the Team Title in a strong Class A field.

During the season, she clocked a 17:26.2 in taking 2nd place at the Adidas Challenge in Cary, NC.

Sauro capped her season with a 12th place finish in a very fast race at the Footlocker South Regional in Charlotte, NC, recording a time of 17:24.4.

Sauro is active in community service and excels academically as well.
