2023 WVSSAC AA Cross Country Championships 10/25 Prediction & Analysis @ Cabell (Diff: 1.0000) Frankfort comes into this race with a solid advantage over their competitors. They appear deeper than both Braxton County and Winfield and have a strong presence in the top 15. Between the two teams, Braxton has the better shot at pulling an upset, although none of their top 5 show any particular potential to make big jumps. Their best shot is if each of their runners can pick up a few shots each. Winfield is in a similar situation and would have a similar route to picking off Braxton for 2nd. ========================= TEAM SCORES Frankfort Wv 62 Braxton County 84 Winfield 97 Elkins 105 East Fairmont 111 Oak Glen 114 Shady Spring 155 Wayne 162 Herbert Hoover 222 ========================= Despite having a comparatively worse regional performance than the two runners below her, Addison Tharp comes in with a strong lead for the individual title, mostly on account of her very strong conference race. Hannah Kliner and Ava Ethridge occupy the 2nd and 3rd spots and could easily take 1st with a good day. Julia Angiulli gets the 4th spot after a strong regional race on the very difficult Elkins course. The 5th spot goes to Taylor Hess who handily beat the 6th pick, Addison Lease at their regional race. Lease does however, have a state runner-up finish under her belt, so an upset from her wouldn't be unlikely. Julia Biola and Laura Cain are slated for 7th and 8th. Cain beat Biola by over 20 seconds at the regional race, but Biola has generally been more consistent throughout the year. That matchup could go either way. Olivia Williamson had a bit of a rough regional showing, but her prior race was very strong. She gets the 9th spot but could fall out of the top 10 with a repeat of her regional race. Emily Viani gets the last all state position. She beat Lease at regionals and could easily move up a few spots. Everyone in spots 11-15 have at some point finished ahead or near runners in the top 10. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of shuffling between places 9 and 15. *Runners marked "Top10 Contndr" have a performance on record from the past month that, when converted to the State Meet course, would place them in the top 10. **Runners at the bottom of the prediction labeled "INJ?" are present in the state meet roster but have not raced at all in October.
