Regional Preview - Class A Boys

Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish three (or five) places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would finish six (or ten) places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different. The important thing is that if you have five runners, get them to the starting line. If you have 7, get them to the line. If you only have 3...get them to the line. Your region may be depending on you.

A Boys

Region I: This Region will advance two teams. It should be pretty close, but I have St. Marys with a 2 point edge over Ritchie for the top spot. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Aidan Scott, Donovan Tanouye, Landen Davis, Jaden Ebert, Heath Knight, Amos Kimble, Max Dauch, Reece Westfall, Patrick Childers, and Cayden Moore. Runners within 60 points of the top 10 that are not on an expected advancing team are Paden City's Riley Dennis (#11) and Magnolia's Lucas Zombotti (#14). There are 18 ranked runners in Region I.

Region II: This Region will advance two teams. Doddridge appears to have the top spot in hand. It will be very close for the 2nd spot. The performance of the unranked runners will be what dictates the 2nd spot. By the rankings, that goes to Notre Dame. But each team only has two ranked runners, so 3-4-5 will be the determining factor. Interestingly, if Trinity were to have a 5th runner, they would suddenly be the favorite to take the spot, but I've only seen 4 guys run this year, and their WVSSAC roster actually only has 3, so it doesn't look like that can happen. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 ae Carter Sias, Evan McElwayne, Josh Berke, Gunner Kimball, Cameron Judy, Ethan Tomlinson, Robert Kincaid, Trey McDonough, Spencer Nolan, and Gage Sites-Woods. Runners within 60 points of the top 10 not on an expected advancing team are Trinity's Chase Livengood (#12), Clay-Battelle's Wyatt Sharpless (#13), Tucker's Alex Boyles (#14), and South Harrison's Harris Holden (#15). There are 15 ranked runners in Region II.

Region III: This Region will advance two teams. Charleston Catholic should have the top spot locked up. The 2nd spot should be a fight between Webster and James Monroe (if they get all their guys to the line). I have Webster taking the spot. 10 Individuals will advance. I can only list the top 5 because there are only five ranked runners in this Region. The current top 5 are Isaac Collins, Hunter Perry, Will Barton, Josh Simons, and Raymond Keith. There are 5 ranked runners in Region III.

Region IV: This Region will advance two teams. Williamstown should have the top spot in hand with 3 of the top 4 and 4 of the top 6 ranked runners. Buffalo appears to easily have the 2nd spot. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Chase Trembly, Julian Johnson, A.J. Skeens, Zach Cannon, Patrick Reilly, Will Coiner, Cade Curfman, Nicholas Pitchford, Jackson Mallett, and Frank Conner. There are no runners within 60 points of the top 10 that are not on an expected advancing team. The closest is Wirt's Byron Long (#13). There are 16 ranked runners in Region IV.
