Meet: Class AAA Girls State Meet Predictions
Location: Cabell Midland High School
Date: To be held October 30, 2021
Predicted Class AAA Girls Team Results
Morgantown is the overwhelming favorite with pretty much everyone on their roster
capable of climbing the podium on any given day. 15 is the best possible score,
and I have Morgantown getting 25 in the State Championship. Hurricane is the strong
favorite for the other podium spot with everyone else at least 60 points behind.
They need everyone healthy and running well, though, as their depth is not great.
University is the most likely to score the 3rd spot. Cabell Midland, Ripley, and
Jefferson will need strong days and/or a University falter to climb into the top 3.
1. Morgantown 25
2. Hurricane 55
3. University 115
4. Cabell Midland 137
5. Ripley 145
6. Jefferson 152
7. Spring Mills 174
8. Buckhannon-Upshur 186
9. Woodrow Wilson 215
10. Greenbrier East 251
11. Martinsburg 271
12. Princeton 319
Predicted Class AAA Girls Top 25
Irene Riggs is the returning champion and has been dominant again this season. The closest
any in-state competitor has been to her has been 37 seconds. That brings us to Allie Martin,
who I've moved into the 2nd spot. She's the one who has been closest to Riggs. Martin has
been consistently excellent all season. I've moved Lea Hatcher into the 3rd spot. She was
only 9 seconds behind Martin at the Regional meet, and it would be no surprise for her to rise
into the 2nd position. That leaves Audrey Hall with the short end of the proverbial stick.
She's ranked 2nd in the field, but I've dropped her to 4th. Early in the season, she squared
off with Martin and Martin won the meeting handily, but Hall has also been consistently
excellent all season long. Her climbing back into that 2nd position would not be much of a
surprise. Asha Bora is slated 5th. She's been strong all season and has closed the gap on
Hall over the final meets. Sophie Renner is tabbed for 6th with Jennifer O'Palko in 7th.
They're really pretty interchangeable. I gave Renner the nod because she came out on top at
both the OVAC and Regional Meets. Ellie Hosaflook is pegged for 8th. She's ranked above the
Morgantown pair, but she's been well behind Bora in most of their matchups. She did, however
beat Bora at the St. Mary's XC Festival early in the season. Adelyn Tager is slotted 9th.
She's one of the few that have gained points in every meet this season. I've moved Emma Jenkins
into the 10th spot. She had an excellent Regional run after missing the MSAC Championships. Most
of those in the 11-20 spots have legitimate shots at the podium.
