Meet: Class A Boys State Meet Predictions
Location: Cabell Midland High School
Date: To be held October 30, 2021
Predicted Class A Boys Team Results
Williamstown is clearly the class of the field and should win handily. I have them
with a nice, low total of 32...over 50 points better than anyone else. They can likely
all be somewhat off their game and still win. The battle for the 2nd podium position
should come down to Ritchie and Buffalo. I have Ritchie winning the spot by just 8 points.
There should be a pretty good battle for 4th as well with 3 teams within 11 points and
another just 12 more back.
1. Williamstown 32
2. Ritchie 85
3. Buffalo 93
4. Doddridge 120
5. Trinity Christian 121
6. Webster 131
7. Charleston Catholic 143
8. Magnolia 159
Predicted Class A Boys Top 25
This has been viewed as a 3 person race for most of the season. Interestingly, the top 3
candidates have ran in the same race three times. Each person has finished 1st once, 2nd
once, and 3rd once in those races. Ultimately, in the 3rd meeting, Aidan Scott won handily.
He also had the statistically superior Regional performance. So he gets the pick for the win.
Michael Cline gets the nod for the 2nd spot, having a 4-2 record vs. Gola. Trent Gola gets
tabbed for the 3rd spot. However, as they say in the old informercials...But wait there's
more. When is a 3 person race not a 3 person race? When a 4th inserts themselves into the
conversation. Patrick Reilly upended Cline by a large margin at their Regional meet. While
he doesn't have the series of performances to accompany it, that has to at least make the
other three stop and take notice. He gets tabbed for 4th. Trey Stanley is ranked slightly
ahead of Reilly and gave Gola a good run at the Cherry Hill Invitational and gets the 5th
spot. Julian Johnson has had a strong close to the season and slides up into the 6th spot.
Zach Cannon is pegged for the 7th spot. He, however, owns wins over each of the top 3 as he
was the top Class A finisher at the season opening Autumn Classic. A.J. Petrovsky gets the pick
for the 8th spot following an excellent Regional run. Andrea Skeens had a great start to the
season and gets the 9th position. Haygen Baker gets the pick for the 10th position based on
his body of work over the course of the season. I think those with very legitimate shots at
the podium goes down to at least #16.
