A REGION I Championships

Location: Cokeley Recreation Area at North Bend State Park

RACE SCHEDULE:   

2-3:30pm - Course Tour        

4:00pm – High School Girls Region I – Single A Championship

4:45pm – High School Boys Region I – Single A Championship

5:30pm – Awards – At the finish line (To Announce State Meet Qualifiers)

-    All athletes must be on eligibility sheet with names spelled correctly

-    All entries must indicate class/grade level

-    Enter 10, Run 7 – any of those 10 can run at the State Meet if your TEAM qualifies

Qualifying for State Meet:

To qualify as an INDIVIDUAL:  Each region will qualify 20% of the total number of (A) contestants that start the regional race to the state meet, inclusive of those individuals that qualified as a team qualifier. A minimum of 10 individuals will qualify from each region. Regular math rounding (.5 & up, round up, below .5, round down) will apply.  

To qualify as a TEAM: This depends on how many complete teams (5 or more runners) start the race in your regional.  If only. 1 full team in your classification starts in your regional, it qualifies.  If 2-5 teams in your classification start at your regional, the top 2 qualify.  If 6-9 teams in your classification start at your regional, the top 3 qualify.  If more than 10 teams in your classification start at your regional, the top 4 qualify.

Awards:      PLAQUE FOR 1ST PLACE TEAM

                        1st – 10th Place 1st Team All-Region Medals

                        11th – 20th Place 2nd Team All-Region Medals

Admission: $6 for Adults, $5 per Student – required by WVSSAC. 

Location:   The course is located in Cokeley Recreation Area at North Bend State Park on the Harrisville side of the park.  The course is viewer friendly and almost entirely a grass surface.  We will NOT have use of the bathhouse facilities at the campground including restrooms and showers because it will be under construction to update our facilities. Porta Potties will be available on site.

Directions: We STRONGLY recommend using the Ellenboro exit from RT 50 and follow the signs to North Bend.   For teams coming from the Parkersburg direction the Cairo exit will be a very unpleasant trip to the course especially on a bus.  The entrance to Cokeley Recreation Area is 6.7 miles from US Rt 50 and approximately 1.5 miles from the intersection of Rt 16 & Rt 31 in Harrisville.

Meet Information:

There will be a general admission fee for spectators set by WVSSAC.

We will have spotters in all areas to help runners, as well as an athletic trainer available.

We will be selling meet t-shirts (available beside of restrooms / awards area) and there will be a concession stand.
