Regional Preview - Class AA Girls

Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish three places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would finish six places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different. The important thing is that if you have five runners, get them to the starting line. If you have seven, get them to the line. If you only have 3, get them on the line. Your region may be depending on you.

AA Girls

Region I: This Region should advance 3 teams. The problem is that there are four pretty good ones, four of the top 7 are in this Region. Even better/worse is that this analysis shows only a 13 point difference between 1st and 4th. Every spot is going to matter. The current rankings show East Fairmont and North Marion tied for the top spot with East Fairmont getting the win on the tie-breaker. Fairmont Senior is shown just 4 points behind. Frankfort looks like the odd-team-out another 9 points back. It looks like we'll advance 12 from this Region. The current top 12 are Lydia Falkenstein, Taylor Hess, Addison Lease, Audrey Helmick, Emily Viani, Sophia Arner, Megan Mitchell, Sophia Schnore, Phaedra Payne, Bella Haught, Averi Everline, and Marissa Haymond. Runners within 60 points of the top 12 and not on an expected advancing team are Frankfort's Aikaterina Burleson (13th), Oak Glen's Hannah Kliner (16th), and Keyser's Scarlet Cameron (17th). This is again easily the deepest Region with more than twice as many ranked runners as any other Region. There are 37 ranked runners in Region I.

Region II: This Region should advance two teams. Things look pretty tight for those two spots with just 8 points between 1st and 3rd. This analysis shows Braxton and Liberty Harrison tied for the top spot with Braxton getting the edge on the tie-breaker. Elkins is just 8 points behind but will be running on their home course (which may or may not be an advantage). Individually, 10 will advance. The current top 10 are Aliya Todd, Claudia Moore, Laura Cain, Destiny Berryman, Samantha Sproul, Bethany Payne, Sara Lowe, Cianna McKenna, Hannah Rowan, and Mallory Bennett. There are no runners within 60 points of the top 10 who aren't on an expected advancing team. The closest is Elkins' Katelynn Collins (12th). There are 15 ranked runners in Region II.

Region III: This Region should advance two teams. There is actually two paths to a 3rd team. Herbert Hoover has 5 on their roster, but I've only seen 4 run this year. Westside has 7 on their roster, but I've only seen 3 run this year. If either gets 5 on the line and everyone else that has 5 does their part, they could get a 3rd team. Since neither has ran a complete unit all season, I'm going to leave it at two. Shady Spring looks like the top dog in the Region. Nicholas County looks like they have the edge for the 2nd spot. If a 3rd team gets in, it's probably Wyoming East. The Region will advance only 10 individuals. The current top 10 are Charlotte McGinnis, Natalie Barr, Haley Johnson, Karson Fletcher, Colleen Lookabill, Abigail Houck, Ryen Keffer, Sara Harris, Journey Whistoff, and Chloe Honaker. These are the only 10 ranked runners in the field, so there is no one within 60 points to mention. There are 10 ranked runners in Region III.

Region IV: This Region should advance two teams. Winfield and Wayne are again clearly at the top, and this analysis has them separated by just 1 point with Winfield coming out on top. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Rachel Withrow, Emily Williamson, Jalynn Browning, Olivia Williamson, Nicole Donato, Sophie Briscoe, Miriam Al-Zoubi, Nikki Walker, Laura Queen, and Hannah Lester. There is just one runner within 60 points of the top 10 and not on an expected advancing team, and that is Sissonville's Amelia Compston (11th). There are 16 ranked runners in Region IV.
