Regional Preview - Class AA Boys

Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish five places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would finishe ten places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different. The important thing is that if you have five runners, get them to the starting line. If you have 7, get them to the line. If you only have 3...get them to the line. Your region may be depending on you.

AA Boys

Region I: This Region should advance three teams. Frankfort should hold the top spot. East Fairmont looks pretty good for 2nd. This analysis has Oak Glen with a 5 point advantage over Fairmont Senior for the 3rd spot. It's an interesting dynamic as Fairmont Senior is ranked 4th in the Statewide ranking while Oak Glen is only 7th, but when you score it with just the teams in this Region, the edge moves over to Oak Glen. 11 Individuals should advance. The current top 11 are Konnor Allison, Garrett Ferguson, Steven Kent Niland, Drew Moore, Peyton Slider, Jasper Brown, Trenton Denne, Nathaniel Stuck, Charles Hullderman, J.T. Veltri, and Mason Konchar. Runners within 60 points of the top 11 that aren't on an expected advancing team are Fairmont Senior's Jacob Angelo (14th), Berkeley Springs' Jackson Mundey (16th), and Fairmont Senior's Griffin Thomas (17th). There are 36 ranked runners in Region I.

Region II: This Region should advance three teams. Every team that can line up 5 must do so in order for this to happen. Elkins looks like they should win the Regional relatively easily. Lewis County appears to be in control of the 2nd spot. The 3rd spot is up for grabs. This analysis shows Robert C. Byrd with a 4 point advanced over Lincoln for the spot. However with just one ranked runner on each team, it's not much of an analysis. 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Charlie Smoak, Lucas Anger, Slate Swiger, Luke Robinson, Isaac Anger, Tyler Burda, Maddox Prince, Jacob Righter, Tyler McKisic, and David Hughes. These are the only 10 ranked runners so there is no one within 60 points of the top 10. There are 10 ranked runners in Region II.

Region III: This Regon should advance three teams. Shady Spring looks like the clear favorite. Nicholas County appears to have the edge for 2nd with PikeView holding an edge over Herbert Hoover for the 3rd spot. It looks like 11 Individuals will advance. The current top 11 are Jacob Dowdy, Jaeden Holstein, Alex Irvin, John Duvall, Braden Ward, Caleb Siders, Jacob Ellison, Sam Jordan, Matt Murphy, Bradley Bostic, and Johnny Walkup. There is only one runners within 60 points of the top 11 not on an expected advancing team. That is Bluefield's Hank Marson (15th). There are 20 ranked runners in Region III.

Region IV: It looks like this Region will only advance two teams. Winfield has the top spot under control. Wayne looks like a strong pick for the 2nd spot. Only 10 Individuals will advance. The current top 10 are Matthew Scheneberg, Braydon Marshall, Landon Brumfield, Justin Lipscomb, Chance Thompson, Chace Thompson, Tyler Weiford, Jordon Reesman, Kason Dean, and Logan Prater. There are no runners within 60 points of the top 10 that aren't on an expected advancing team. The closest is Poca's Thoms Taylor (18th). There are 22 ranked runners in Region IV.
