Morgantown's Irene Riggs has been named the 2020 Gatorade Female Cross Country Runner of the Year for West Virginia. Morgantown's season was highly abbreviated due to COVID-19 with their first meet not occurring until September 30th. Riggs only got to run in 5 meets but clearly established herself as the top competitor. Her average margin of victory in her five meets was 55 seconds. She capped the season by winning the State Meet by 29 seconds, which was her smallest margin of victory on the season. Cancellations prevented her from competing at Nike or Footlocker Regionals.
