University's Josh Edwards has been named the 2020 Gatorade Male Cross Country Runner of the Year for West Virginia. University's season was abbreviated due to COVID-19 with their first meet not occurring until September 30th. Edwards was unthreatened by opponents during his brief five-meet season. The closest anyone came was 24 seconds with his average margin of victory nearing 40 seconds. He capped his season by running away with the Class AAA State Championship by 50 seconds. Cancellations prevented him from competing at Nike or Footlocker Regionals.
