Dear WV High School Cross Country Coaches,

I am inviting you to a virtual ZOOM meeting to discuss the upcoming 2020 High School Cross Country Season and the effect that COVID-19 will have on the format of our sport. Over the last week, I have heard many practical proposals and ideas from coaches across the state concerning the upcoming season. We would all benefit if we had a forum to discuss the topic. The goal of the meeting would be to come to a consensus or at least an understanding of what coaches feel would be a fair, practical, and safe format to conduct cross country meets. Any ideas would have to follow WVSSAC, state, and local government regulations.

For any WV High School Cross Country Coaches interested in attending the ZOOM meeting, please email me directly at mryan.mhsxc@gmail.com.  In your email, include your name and the school where you coach. Access will be limited to coaches only. The meeting is open to WV Coaches from all three classes (A, AA, & AAA). Once coaches are confirmed, they will receive an email containing the ZOOM meeting invite.  The WVU Center for Applied Coaching and Sport Sciences will be hosting the meeting on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 7:30 pm.

Take care and be safe,

Mike Ryan
